It is nothing short of a scandal that Everton did not bring in Barton. I know I will be slated but if ever there was a chance of a quality player,there it was. On a free, we could have offloaded some dead wood and the savings on the wages would have secured Barton. Its the constant lack of creativity and vision by this management and of course high and mighty Kenwright wouldnt have Barton etc etc. Barton , an Everton supporter who would have played for us is now going to a mediocre team. Scandal.

About 70k a week. No he's not worth it, Barton certainly isn't worth it.
If we brought him in and paid the 80k he wants then a few of our players would be demanding it too. It also sets a precedent of paying that type of wage when we can't afford it.
Never mind the risk of bringing someone on the payroll who has caused disruption wherever he has played mate.
That's what I'm saying, not that I wouldn't like to see him in royal blue, but it's far from a scandal isn't it?
He would have been a decent squad player in an area where we are well stocked (I would have played Arteta, Osman, Fellaini, Barkley and potentially Cahill, Neville and Rodwell ahead of him). And for that decent squad player with major character question marks we would have had to have broken our highest wage. Even if we had the money, no thanks.

This "player" is moving from Newcastle to QPR, not quite sure what the scandal is, maybe the fact that 2 Clubs are willing to pay money to have this coward on their wage bill.
