Baton down the hatches

Tall vehicles should be banned from motorways.

They should build a network of subterranean tunnels for large vehicles, make them live down there and form a new albino race of underground truckers.

I know several people that have been involved in accidents on the motorway all of which have involved truck or van drivers.

I think they do usually ban tall vehicles on the motorways during high winds, at least they do on the M62 near me but that is the highest motorway point in the country so I think that is pretty windy most of the time.

That's actually what they are planning to do over here (well, kind of).

They've finally got the OK for funding to build a tunnel from Bavaria through to northern Italy which will take the heavy goods lorries which currently trundle through the mountains on a new rail and road tunnel under Austria. Won't be finished for a couple of decades, mind you.

Didn't realise it was supposed to be a biggie - luckily I'm off work so can curl up in bed tomorrow morning as the wind whistles away outside :D

Pfft, unless its got a name its not worth getting worried about.

It has, its Joanna, named by the German weather centre. The barometric level at the centre of the storm is lower than the 'hurricaine of 87'.

Sky appear to be talking it up as they cameras everywhere ready to record disaster. From what I've seen the worst of it will run into France, oh dear what a pity never mind.

Winds on the S coast are already up to 83mph with higher winds to come.
