As argument continues about foreign players how about more local, so called none foreign players. We've had many bad players hence that arguement would go on forever so lets stick to the best.

Best Welsh, one heck of a choice but in the end for me the decision lies between Roy Vernon, Kevin Ratcliff and Nevil Southall, the other two could have wonunder different countries but Nevil Southall was simply the best anywhere in his position.

Nomination Southall

Best Scot, again a huge range to pick from, here are some that spring to mind, Bobby Collins, Alex Parker, Grahame Sharp, Alex Scot, Davie Weir, Alex Young and many others I have no doubt over looked. For me one of the greatest players I have ever seen kick a ball was Young, on his day he was simply magnificent

Nomination Young

Ireland, well in recent seasons we have had few Irish players, that was never the case at one time as we had a continous stream of really good Irish players. It is hard to nominate any modern players, Lee Carsley being the exception (sory Killa but no) after that we go back to the likes of George Farrell, the great Tommy Eglington, Mick Meagan but there was one shining example of a truly superd Irish player and my nomination because he was an Everton great, Kevin Sheedy

Nomination Sheedy

What are your choices?

No real contest. Southall was the best keeper in the world in his day so walks the Welsh vote. Sheedy was also world class but faces less competition. In the Scottish side it's a toss up between Young and Sharp, either would be worthy winners.

Radcliffe was always the standout player to me as was Southall.

Presently it has to be Carsley - no real competition there.

Two different countries mate: Rep of Ireland, Nor Ireland.

Ah the pride of having a world class Irish International playing in a successfull Everton Team: Kevin Sheedy all the way (apart from the fact he was born in Blackpool).

From the North: Maybe Billy Bingham just for "that goal"/ Norman Whitside what a player never saw his best.

No worries mate just didnt want you to get lost in korea, i assumed it was blackpool, jesus wales must have had some left winger at the time that he ended up playing for us.

:)

Geography is one of my favourite subjects so it was kind of self-irony. ;)

This link gives more info, I had a feeling he was born in Wales, but needed to be sure. Its also satisfing to read that Liverpool were regretting letting him go.

Thanks for the link mate, felt uneasy onerthere on the dark side!

L.O.L.

"Liverpool must have regretted selling him as he emerged as one of Everton's best players when Everton was competing with Liverpool for the title in the 80's."
