'big 4' to pull away this weekend

teppic

Player Valuation: £50m
all the teams in the top for have bankers this weekend while those below them are playing each other or have tough away matches.

this weekend will see everton catch the uefa spots.... but will see daylight from the top 4 to the rest, especially if city lose at spurs.

On paper Teppic, Newcastle drew with Arsenal the other night when most expected them to lose.
As long as we win then at worst the gap between us and the top four remain's the same, what is it, about 9 or 10 points, one of them has a drop in form and we will be in there like a shot mate.
You're right though, a win and we are right back in the pack for the UEFA slots.

the top sides have to play each other a few times yet, and some mid table sides like villa and city and pompey have games against the top sides as well.

we have been to spurs, we have been to pompey, we have been to bolton, away to villa is gone, same with toon, a point at chelsea is priceless, - these have been tough away games, so long as we put the performances in against these sides at goodison then we will inch back the ground lost so far. lets face it, we are getting a lot more respect now - we dont turn to jelly like we once did, and sides know they are in for a game at goodison.

man ure at home was one of those games, drab, dour and a harsh lesson. robbery in the derby was exactly that - robbery. apart from those two games and reading away i have been satisfied in the league this season.

lets see how the top four cope with CL + african nations + league and FA cup requirements. that many games always provides sides with chances.

we are going to bop arsenal on the 29th.

i see your points, i hope we break the [Poor language removed]'s little streak at analfield, that'd be poetic justice.

unfortunately, i think we'll be almost as hard hit by the nations cup as some of the other teams, and with euro football we seem to have just as many competitions, but hopefully we can still gain ground.

I hate this entire concept of the 'Big four', it makes all other teams in the prem also rans before the season kicks off, promotional funds get shared between the four as advertisers are that less interested in the other 16 teams but it is symptomatic of what is wrong in the English game. The greed of the Premiership top four is unhealthy in every possible way as they mop up the bulk of investment to the detriment of the percieved lesser clubs, ourselves included. What bloody chance did Billy Davies stand at Derby having less than five million to spend on his squad when others give that out in wages, it is a stacked deck for the bulk of Prem sides:angry:  (rant over)

fourth place on 2m for cahill and 450k on m.bent

derby were and have been vastly under prepared.

as for the top four sucking the life out of the game, its capitalism. we werent complaining as the mersey millionaires. its just that the best time to capitalize so far is now with the beyond obscene amounts of cash and the depths of sleaze it allows acccess too, never before dreamed of let alone reached.

wenger has battled on a budget, dodgy as ************** (belgium feeder club allowing arfican nationals to qualify for european passport in 12 months and arsenal making payments to the club for no apparent reason) but besides them, who else has played the game?

keegan with a decent purse at toon
blackburn on steel millions
leeds on fresh air

sport is cyclical, peaks and troughs, we were great a few times, and then dropped a level or two, its being able to take advantage at those points -

- it is in my opinion why spurs have suffered, fifth place on the last day in a derby due to a dodgy lasagne. thats got to tell.

we suffered in a similar fashion, [Poor language removed] over by italys top referee (in the season italian football went through the corruption debacle coupled with the uefa rules that were changed allowing the inbreds a free ticket into the competition + us miraculously drawing semi finalists to be villareal)

we went how many games without a win? 9? we won at bolton, cahill - 1-0... diouf hit the bar. anyway. injustices are felt by the team and the manager and the fans.

caution with finances, expanding where possible, and the ability to usurp a so called top side when the opportunity presents itself is the map to success.

i never want everton to be associated with the likes of manure (8 minutes mystery time at QPR) and the inbreds (too many occasions to mention... villa away 07... sheff utd away 06) in terms of the sheer bias shown by so called referees.

the everton way, the honest and fair way. no divine right to win every time, just the will, fight, and skill to beat any side on the day.

The only way they could have prepared would have been to sell out to a new investor which is scant reward for gaining promotion

Because its capitalism it does not make it right. We got the tag as Mersey millionaires based on bank assurances given by John Moores and an initial capital loan of about £70,000, hence millionaires was something of an overstatement at that time. His type of backing wouldn't cover half time catering at the game now.

With the exception of Newcastle, who relied totally on Sir John Halls wealth very few

Sorry Suits I would say was cyclical, we are the only team outside the bent four to have won the cup since the Prem started. We had the timerity to break into the top four, the media lampooned us for it, remember 'You're havin a larf', money has shrunk the cyclical cycle to virtually four teams for major success and that is not healthy, it is a kabul.

Agreed in full I want us to be the ones to break this media ideal, this invention of invincibility, it never existed before the Prem started and it is having, imo, a detrimental effact of the future well being of our game.

Agree with you Monty, we just keep plugging away at our game and get the results as for the so called Big F******* just ignore them and let them get on with their shennanigans.

We have improved and will continue to do so just need some patience. Even Moyes has said he is more concerned with our league position than the UEFA or other cup comps.
