Blackburn approach Allardyce

Nebbiolo

Valuation: £108 million
According to the BBC Blackburn have approached Big Sam about the vacant post and hope to have a man in by Saturday.

I think if they can get him in they've done well and will save their season. The Geordies ruined his reputation but you can't doubt his ability to manage a team on a budget and get results.

He would just turn Blackburn into a long ball side in the mould of Bolton. Still, if that tactic worked, he probably would save Blackburn's Premier League status.

Exactly, but that is how clubs like Blackburn have to be if they are to survive. A small club like that has to ensure its survival by any means necessary. Allardyce can provide those means.

I understand where your coming from John but I hate big Sam and all he stands for I was at their games with Tranmere in the Lcup a few years ago when he wanted the rovers players banned from drying the ball before a long throw.the next season he copied the throw tactics and most of the others.

Confirmed on BBC now aswell - 3 year contract.

They've got a fair bit of height and strength in their squad - Bolton-esqe hoofball & setpieces should see them stay up.

I think its harsh to label Big Sam a long ball manager, he had to do that with Bolton to survive and he did well with the players he had. At Newcastle he wasnt given a fair crack and its a joke team, so who knows what he might have done given time and a little money. I think Blackburn is a struggling side, but they do have some decent players, so i would be shocked if he made them play long ball.

He will do well to stop them leaking goals, paul robinson is [Poor language removed]

Bet they do quite well over xmas, then Roque gets sold and they end up still going down. That's my prediction and I'll stand by it like I stand by all my predictions.
