Robin Sisland

Player Valuation: £5m
RS supporting match commentator on Radio Merseyside in the mid-late 70s, famed (at the time) for having travelled to Trabzon in N East Turkey to commentate on Liverpool's 1977 Uefa cup match and finding himself unable to eat any of the local food tried to request ski yoghurt only to find himself presented with a huge tub of the local live natural nflavoured variety.

Just occurred to me today what an odd surname Azerdia is. Googling him produces nothing.

Anyone any ideas where his name comes from or whatever happened to him?

Picture of him on right, anyone know the one on the left?

ps his surname was Azurdia, not Azerdia.

Found this from The Echo:

Bob Azurdia (1936-96), radio presenter

One of the great pioneers of local radio and one of the founders of BBC Radio Merseyside in 1967, Azurdia was a dynamic presenter.
He was a regular competitor in both the London and Mersey Marathons, in all running more than 50, and helped to raise thousands of pounds for good causes. He died in 1996 aged 60 after a heart attack.

I have a friend with a similar surname and he is second generation Algerian Immigrant. Olive skin type complexion, a bit lighter than Osman's. If it is any use.

Forgot I'd posted this. Cheers for the replies. Shame he died so young.
Wonder how he came to have an Algerian/S American surname..

Shankly to Radio Merseyside journalist Bob Azurdia.
'Do yer know something, Azurdia? I've been asked a million stupid questions in my time and you've asked all of them.'
