Borat the movie

Nebbiolo

Valuation: £108 million
I saw Borat on DVD last night. It was actually quite good, even if clearly scripted in large chunks. But the scene with the Christian fundamentalists in some church or other really threw me. My goodness, was that weird.

And the stuff with the old shape-shifting Jewish couple that were suspected of turning into cockroaches was hilarious. The way he and his mate were chucking dollar bills at them to keep them at bay.

And the bit with feminists had me in stitches. You could tell the first of the women was gonna walk out in disgust.

All in all, a very good movie.

All of those sketches were played out live to an unsuspecting public. Theyre scripted and rehearsed beforehand in private if thats what you mean but then just put out there.

Some of it is quite fantastic too. The Rodeo, for example.

That was fantastic, the hatching of the Jew egg was crude and hilarious.

Chico, I was just thinking about that. It was slightly grotesque and very cleverly put together. The way they got all those melts to come over and smash it up was equally well conceived.

He can get away with it because 1) its absurd stereotyping and 2) errr, he's Jewish.

Ali G in the early days was amazing, on the 11 o'clock show.

Plus, the joke is not on Jewish people, but on anti-semitic communities. It's still close to the knuckle, though.

I suppose if anyone should be offended by Borat it would be the people of Kazakhstan.

I met an Kazakhstani girl overseas two years ago, I got the conversation on the subject of Borat subtley rather than "where are you from?", "Kazakhstan", "Do you know Borat?".

Anyway, she [Poor language removed] hated Borat and was very upset at the portrayl of her country. I didnt buy her champagne and smash her.

the hotel scene was filmed in about 5 different buildings. Naturally they would get kicked out for running around bollocko, so if a mistake was made they had to go elsewhere

That fella's face in the lift is quite sensational, when the three of them are just in there and Borat and his agent are naked.

Mate, how the "chubby" guy had the guts to take his clothes off is quite sensational. Good on him for that. The scene prior to that when he is masturbating to "Pam-erala's" image was hilarious.
