Breaking News Absolutely Nobody Is Interested In - Part 2

The rain, it raineth every day
The last thread was so uninteresting it's locked ! To my MP :

Dear Mr Patrick,

Thank you for (eventually) replying to my email regarding the disgusting decision of withdrawing the winter fuel payment to pensioners who just cross the threshold of eligibility.

I doubt for one moment your email was written by yourself : probably from one of your assistants, or a stock letter composed from upon high.

I know from personal experiences that several people, already, and winter hasn't even really started, have restricted the hours that they heat their homes to a bare minimum.

I keep coming back to priorities : 'Labour's' priorities seem to consist on attacking the well trodden path against the sick, the disabled, the old and the unemployed.

Your real priorities are shining through though :

Relaxing banking regulations, and we all know the results of that last wheeze.

The obsession with your party being more concerned with the
opinions of the rich and powerful. Notwithstanding the toadying to the increasingly irrelevant media.

Your seeming inability to recognise that austerity is a busted flush. The continued obsession of ''efficiency ' savings has been proven over the last fifteen years to be a busted flush. Your own council is going, with cap in hand, to the government for £20 million quid to avoid bankruptcy.

The lack of a grand plan, instead of a new 'relaunch' every three weeks with meaningless buzz words, is just a continuation of the previous government(s) drift and failure.

Instead of persecuting the most vulnerable in our society, how about changing tack and prosecuting tax avoiders, off shore loop holds and raising tax thresholds for those who can afford to pay.

There are many others issues which I could mention :

The obsession with privatisation - water, railways etc.

The paucity of ambition with regards to housing - always a 'public/private' partnership. You would obtain so much public goodwill if you fund an a nationwide building programme for actual affordable homes.

There is a lot more I could say (foreign policy), but if your government continues to be angels dancing on a pinhead you will be tarred with same brush as the Tories.

I can easily see how people are attracted to Reform, albeit a case of sheep's clothing which is blindingly obvious to see. I won't be voting for Labour again, primarily to the disgusting fuel allowance decision *, but as well as the sheer lack of meaningful ambition shown so far.

Regards
