Its being reported on SSN that Burley will be sacked later today following the 3 - 0 defeat to Wales. The two major teams in the SPL are wanting out and other clubs are going bankrupt...............tbh I find the whole scene in Scotland to be very depressing. It is hard to charge Burley for the defeat at the weekend, basically speaking the players themselves do not perform as they used to, they lack pride, so many withdraw from games leaving the manager to pick second and third choice players.

Souness was asked if he wanted the job, basically he said, not today, not tomorrow not next year not ever....................he knows it is one of the most thankless jobs in football. It strikes me that the 'suits' who control the game in the background are the ones who want changing in the meantime football will continue to slide into oblivion in a place where it was king

It's a shame really. The Scots used to be known as the professors of football.

They have been shocking under Burley, but you cant make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. They're expectations are that they should be *up there* in world football terms. They should be realistic and hope to get to a play off for the European championships every four years.

I feel for Scottish football, as they have given the game so much over the years.

Although there were some quality comedy moments. Costa Rica in Italia 90 was my introduction to their comedy streak.

If we had to meet them in a play off like we did for the 2000 Euro's I don't think we would fear them nearly as much as we did.

just as well they aren't going to s.a. as the might of n.z. will be there.

i cant see any point in them appointing a boss from down here(burley, souness, dalglish) or abroad (vogts), andy roxburgh was the right kind of appointment imo as he knows the game up there and the players coming through from being kids. no point getting someone that has been down here for the majority of his career that couldn't tell you who east fifes derby is against.

as it is though i'll have a little chuckle at their expense, while they await the w.c. draw to see who's kits they need to order for the games against us. i always had a soft spot for the scottish national team, until i experienced their fans supporting the germans against us, some of who were scousers and about as scottish as Mcd's

It has now been confirmed that Burley has been sacked after a meeting by telephone ffs. Some of the melts that are having their say on SSN make me laugh none more so than that pinacle of skillful football Davie Provan, what an arse
