Can we at least knock on the head all this crap about them not trying hard enough now

Player Valuation: £500k
Every single one of them ran themselves into the ground tonight at times it was obvious how physically knackered they were.

They lack talent, balance and show all the signs of being poorly led for a very long time, so many chops and changes they haven't a hope of understanding what they are supposed to be doing as a unit and confidence (something we don't exactly help with by getting on their backs at every opportunity) and mental toughness too.

Constantly banging on about a lack of 'effort' is the very definition of throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Think how you would feel if you busted a gut at work but a combination of those things above mean you are ultimately doomed to fail yet the only thing it is blamed on is your apparent lack of 'effort'....you'd be pretty distraught wouldn't you?

Those players performances, have been a disgrace since the end of September imo. Hopefully tonight was a turning point though! That was a badly needed win!

I dont think they lack effort, they are just rubbish. What a buzz that was though tonight, wish that feeling could be bottled.
Exactly, this lack of effort thing is a massive red herring. They just aren't very good it is as simple as that. That's not their fault either, they never asked a succession of managers to assemble them into a squad which lacks talent, balance and a clue about tactics.

Despite what we think they do actually try their best, it's simply that their best isn't good enough to overcome the odds that have been stacked against them from a succession of terrible decisions they had nothing to do with.

Define effort though because we are certainly down there in terms of distance covered and sprints etc.

Tonight they were faultless in terms of effort . But that has been missing for most of The season , let’s not get carried away .

but the manner of this victory should galvanise everyone to get us over the line

They've lacked effort, desire, will to win, game management, team spirit, belief, going the extra mile etc etc etc

We are 4th from bottom. They deserve to be called out on it.

Great tonight, I'm buzzing with that win.

Now go and win a cup QF Sunday, then win away to West Ham and Burnley, snot the mancs and we can come back about questioning the teams effort can't we because even the Coleman mentioned that they've been "rightly" questioned by everyone and all the last 2 weeks after some utterly abject performances

So thats an excuse for the performances they have given us this season. It isnt tonight was what we have needed them fighting for the shirt giving everthing. But dont want go on about it now we move on and all push on to get us up the table lets enjoy tonight

It’s the lack of creativity since Sigurdsson, James and Digne got removed from a squad already more heavily weighted on graft than quality that’s ruined our season.

The reason we’re not high on sprints or mileage is because Benitez played anti-football, I bet stat geeks will say we covered loads of ground today and since Lampard started in general… we out ran Leeds the other day ffs
