Can we finish in the top 4?

I told my Chelsea supporting mate that we have a chance of fighting for the 4th spot and he just laughed at me. The other sides that are above us in the table excluding Chelsea and the Manchester teams aren't really that. Just a big shame we couldn't strengthen last summer when the opposition was even more poo. We would have to have a good season and get a bit lucky, but why not. We're Everton FFS.

If you avoid injuries - why not? Two mancs and chavs are nailed on for the first three, Arsenal have lost a player who carried them last season and Song who provided most assists, they'll struggle without decent strikers - I don't think Podolski will suit the EPL. I'd say toffees have a fair chance.

Like many already stated if we stay clear with no major injuries to our players and with little luck I think we can be 4th.
City,United - strong, quality and depth - will finish above us
Chelsea and Spurs- I'm not to sure of them- good players, but I think we can challenge them- we don't have so much pressure like them- they have to be in CL and they are both in transition
Arsenal- weaker without van Persie and Song
RS- we'll finish higher second time in a row and I hope we do the double on them this year!
Newcastle- other clubs will take them more seriouse and they will have less points this year

I hope its what the players want. No point going into a season as a player hoping to finish 6th or 7th, especially with the talent we have in the first eleven. Phil Neville said after the game the other night, 4/5 is the position we SHOULD be fighting for, i just hope we can put up the fight with regards to finishing 4th or 5th.

Screw fifth, i want fourth. Even if you crash out of champions league you're back in Europa anyways. If spurs don't get a striker i can see them finishing pretty poorly

the thing of it is Spuds, Chelski, R/S, all have new management this season so they have a transition of styles to cope with. the Arse are clearly in one of their rebirth transitions they have every few years and the Barcodes wont be able to sustain last years performances against a wiser EPL. Hopefully the Mancs will be so busy beating each other up they will be without focus. this hugely optimistic view could see us challenging for 3rd or 4th. We have anunchanged, solid manager and team, the only changes have been improvements:
Loan Pienaar now signed Pienaar
Saha/Straq now Jelly/Naismith
Drenthe now Mirallas
Cahill now Felli
Rodwell now Gbbo

So my optimism is high, at least until 5pm Saturday!

No. Man City, Man United, Chelsea and Arsenal will almost definitely finish above us. That leaves us with 5th place and that's providing we finish above Tottenham, Newcastle and Liverpool, which would be a good achievement.

We CAN finish 4th. Arsenal may not be the force they were, Spurs could be in turmoil by Christmas, and its unlikely that Newcastle will be as successful as last season. I'm pretty certain we'll be above the RS again and we have as good a chance as any of making 4th. We'll know more after 10 games, as DM said on SSN this morning.

not without a quality right back, a quality winger, and a ball player in midfield.
i would even go as far as a another quality centre half and a decent reserve keeer

Arsenal may have lost RVP but they still have a better squad than us. So does Tottenham. But saying that I believe we have one of the best teams we have had for many years. But if we can get to the EL we should be happy. No way were finishing 4th
