Didn't I read that there is a 10 day period after the WC where both parties can walk away from things? I don't know if that means minus compensation but it seems fair enough if that is the case.

£6.2 mill a year

bet he cant wait to be sacked.

But as Desailly said, money isn't important. Its what he can do on the training ground, on the sidelines, in the dressing room.

If we win a major tournament, then its money well spent. If we bring through young English coach's it will be money well spent.

they are some fairly sizable 'ifs' arent they.

6.2 mill a year.

how many games does that mean he actually has charge of?

he will get the sven treatment at every prem ground come a weekend, but to what end?

Personally I don't care if he gets 6m 10m or a life time supply of bacon butties, but I know that he is a quality coach. I know he has a great great record. I know that he isn't Sven, he is ruthless, he will take players out if he needs to.

I always thought Sven would never drop certain players regardless of form. He would always pick on reputation. Capello has worked with the greatest players in the world, he knows that reputation doesn't count for anything if they are not playing well.

I must admit, I'm quite excited about the prospects of what this guy can do. I would be less excited if one of those English managers in my previous post were given the job.

Not one single performance trigger in that contract which is financial stupidity at its worst, sack Barwick for offering it. Remember poor Sven, the sickly Swedish failure, months after leaving they still paid him £3k a day until he got a new job, absolute [Poor language removed] madness but I do care what they pay him.

No one can blame the former unemployed 61 year old for saying yes but we can charge the FA with financial insanity:angry:

I,m pleased with capello a good appointment in my eyes but the fa have no clue about money.
6 million for just over 4 years is ridiculous and with his backroom staff it takes it to over 10 million which is more money than the government give the fa for our grassroots football throughout the country.

Daz my old mate it is worse than that it is basically £7 mil a year, over half a mil a month and he gets two months holiday plus free tickets to the match.

From what I've read the FA lost 50 million not qualifying for Euro 2008 so I guess the money is worth it if England qualifies for the WC. However I've always felt that England's big weakness was that in the knockout stages teams know they could just sit back and take it to penalties and if that happens England (with crap penalty takers and a crap keeper) loses 9 times out 10.

Maybe Capello could try to nationalize an Italian keeper.

There were some Italian fans saying on the box yesterday that Capello is interested in just one thing.....money, he'll get on with the FA then, he'll put in for a rise because he's turned in for work
