The covering more ground shout isn’t a valid excuse for Sigurdsson’s ‘performances’ been hearing this all season with him. We paid £50m for him. He made more passes to Pickford than he did to Richarlison or Calvert Lewin on Sunday. If we wanted a player who runs around all day we’d have been better off keeping hold of James McCarthy, at least that lad got stuck in and didn’t crap himself out of challenges or hide when we were in a battle.
I wasjust talking about effort

Running doesnt mean effort lol.

They run and train everyday, they are multi millionaire athletes.

Effort is that extra surge and commitment to make a tackle, or sprint to close down, or put your head in where it might hurt, put your feet in where it might hurt. To scream at teamates for more effort. You know like most of the fellas who pay a fiver to play football on the park every sunday.

What Siggy has done all his career is hide behind a gift/talent with a dead ball or the occassional decent ball.

He has always lacked what effort means to a professional sportsman and he lacks heart/desire and drive. How he has worn an armband at any level beggars belief.

Baffles me how Sigurdsson gets the armband when he doesn’t represent any of that above, that should be the bare requirement for any captain at any football club. Just another example of why this club is in the mess it’s in currently.

One of the problems of the modern game, to me, is the empowering of Director's of Football who reserve to themselves the decisions on signings.

The managers are less of a manager and are becoming solely coaches.

Ancelotti is high profile manager, if you consider his record, and should have a say on the squad shape. We may argue if Silva was a modest manager but Ancelotti is one of the top managers of the decade.

He is far from being outdated, in my opinion. He's hugely experienced as a manager and as a former top class football player.

So signing Ancelotti is, to my eyes, a top, top decision. It's like opening a restaurant and having a top chef.

Now, provide him the resources (which are not necessarly financial) and let the man work. We are in January so I think we should be able to offload some rotten tomatoes.

Ch.
I don’t believe he told them to play out from the back, even if he did they should be able to pass to each other. you can’t say it’s all his fault, these players downed tools in that second half, do u agree with that?

Did they down tools tho? Or their confidence was weaking by the second while the kids were growing

Sounds like most people want a return to the Moyes days of signing players, where we assume he chose the players and if there was a a director of Football at the club, the closest thing would have been Kenwright. It worked well tbf.

Like Moyes is doing now at West Ham ?
Sniffing after Fellaini again ?
Who.. in that Wigan cup game had to be dragged off before The Paddock lynched him for shrugging his shoulders at them when he lost the ball ?

Nah..

I'd rather get relegated than have him or his ideas back again.

I know you love Moyes however so there's no need to respond.

I am not talking about Moyes coming back. Just saying the setup for buying players while he was here was far preferable to the nonsense we currently see.

After the game on Sunday Ferguson had a pop at a few players about their commitment, etc mate, they turned round and had a pop at Ferguson saying they did try hard in the game, and the problem was Ancelotti's tactics.
I highly doubt it was ancelottis tactics.

You could clearly see it in the players it was them panicking every time on that second half. You could see it over and over again inviting pressure on themselves , the lack of movement , lack of availability. Even the lack of anyone apart from the attackers wanting the ball.

There is keep possession and there is fear. Our back 6/7 played with absolute fear on Sunday. Instead of any of them standing up to teenagers and youngsters they instead feared them. So many times a clearance or pass from the back just went to a red shirt. So many times they were scared to defend against them.

I'm not having that. A champions league and multiple league winning manager walks into our club and the players want to blame him? Either the story is completely false or those players have to go.
