Champions League revamp

I hope the likes of Sky and BT Sport realise that despite all their fawning and outrageously favourable coverage of the scab 6, those clubs were ready to drop them like a stone, and take their monopoly elsewhere.

This Super League isn’t gone, it’s suspended. Work will start today by these clubs on tweaking the format, and trying to get it through in a way that doesn’t cause such uproar, and as soon as they think they’ve got a viable Super League Version 2, they will press ahead.

Punishment or not, the game desperately needs cultural and rule change and probably legislation to ensure when they try to push again, they can be isolated and there’s a structure to ensure they fail, or can be cut adrift without killing the remaining league members.

The mad thing is these are billionaires who have the best advisors and lawyers around them and yet they still went ahead with this farce of an idea without any in depth thought it seems.

Most owners treat the average person as wealth to be extracted. There’s also an out of touch mentality in capitalism to own or be owned. It’s a fear that drives them to take out the competition. There’s also no laws when you have limitless wealth, you can buy your way out of everything.

I think if the response was even a little less muted, they probably would have ignored it and carried on with their plans. They probably just didn’t want an all out war and got better things to do with their time. Time is one thing they are limited in.

I disagree. I don't think they thought they would be kicked out of the national leagues. Without the Premier League money there's no advantage to the English clubs leaving, so they are stuck. I think you might find the rs are sold soon. Man Utd are on the NYSE so they can't be, but you may see the Glazers sell their shares.

What a bizarre and angry tone to that comment. As someone who works on legal matters in local government, they won't and are very unlikely to succeed in successfully taking legal action. As much as you and I would like them to.

They haven't entered a team in any competition yet. Not this season. The law is worded to allow out of season tournaments like the audi Cup or whatever. They haven't revealed fixtures or any details.
What's bizarre or angry about it?

I simply demolished your points.

Get over it...

So shall we create a poll on how lightly these clubs will get off?

25% of league revenue lost? (About £25m)
Suspended sentence to UEFA for 2 years?
Minimal point deductions?
Banned from hosting fans in Europe for 3 games? (Then only the fans lose out).

which one will it be?

There will be no sanctions as they haven't broken any rules.

They might see what falls, whatever, hope there is real change afoot. Or else this happens again, having learnt lesson in the importance of lobbying and PR, will be much more slick dissection, I'm sure Greedy 6 have 55 Tufton street on google maps.

None of the above a telling off and each club given an automatic place in the CL every year more likely.

I’m guessing that nothing will happen to the scab clubs. UEFA and the EPL will put this matter to bed and that will be the end of that.

Hendo saved the day ...Hurrah
