Champions League revamp

I disagree. I don't think they thought they would be kicked out of the national leagues. Without the Premier League money there's no advantage to the English clubs leaving, so they are stuck. I think you might find the rs are sold soon. Man Utd are on the NYSE so they can't be, but you may see the Glazers sell their shares.

Possibly. To be fair, we don’t know which particular threat it was that caused the reversal. Was it the kicking out of national leagues, banning from international comps, gov involvement, player power?

The SL were making statements that they expected a backlash, and they had lawyers ready in place to fight their corner against sanctions, so they were clearly prepared for some of the threats.

This is the second power grab in the last 6 months by these clubs, If those owners stay they will try again, although you could well be right that FSG and the Glazers may decide they’ve had enough and bail.

Right, that's UEFA's counterargument. It's not certain which way the court is going to break on that. The law leaves them enough flexibility to break either way. Your argument is persuasive, but I'm not the judge so your ability to persuade me doesn't matter.

It's a heck of a piece of semantics to hang a multi-billion dollar lawsuit on, plus associated legal fees. Do the 14 Prem clubs really want to stake their entire ventures on the courts breaking their way on that?

Obviously, the other side is betting that they won't.
1. If it does go through the court process, one cannot prejudge the persuasiveness of the legal arguments from both sides. The lawyers will make the big bucks.

2. It is a heck of a piece of semantics, but on many occasions that is what judgements hinge on.

3. All we can do is sit on the sidelines watching what the next moves are. Should be an interesting next few days, weeks, months...

There has to be meaningful, powerful sanctions on all 12 clubs or this undoubtedly happens again - they have only said it's suspended, not ripped to pieces and dead.

All the talk of punishing fans and players if the clubs are punished is bollocks as well, I feel sorry for them but you can't disassociate them from the club's, so they have to take whatever is coming.

They should be annexed to the bottom of the pyramid or dissolved, which is exactly what would have happened if it were Everton, Leeds, Leicester, wham, wolves and Villa who had tried this.

If there's no appetite for that, then long bans from Europe, large points deductions, long transfer bans, behind closed doors matches in all comps when restrictions lift (keep hitting them in their pockets) for a few seasons - that reduces the value of the "asset" and forces these corrupt owners out.

A little fine and a don't do it again you naughty boys, fixes nothing in this whole sorry mess

The three kings

Rupert Murdoch's Sky - who charged £15 per game on top of subscriptions in the middle of a pandemic, because they are "in it for the fans"
Abu Dhabi - the new moral bastian; because they are "in it for the fans"
Boris Johnson - who's has always loved his footie and has a strong bond with the working classes
Sky owned by American mate. Comcast

Tarnished again.
I never listened to the dirge anyway but i will forever associate it with these last few days now.
And happily make the point.. " oh really?"

There will be no sanctions as they haven't broken any rules.

No, but something needs to be done to prevent stuff like this happening again, which lets be honest is a massive possibility. Examples need to be made.

Let’s hope UEFA never forget how quickly these rats were to crap all over them and jump ships.

These clubs, already have the privelage of getting to play in the Champions League year in year out, they already have a massive advantage over every other club in their respective leagues and they don’t deem it good enough for them. They obviously don’t value the competition - as we also know they don’t value the Premier League.

Money obviously talks though so I expect UEFA to bend over backwards bring in these new reforms which sees all of these greedy wankars given automatic slots each year and bigger slice of money than everyone else.

Football is dead still.
