The revolution cranks up a gear as we take on table toppers Chelsea in arguably the hardest game on the fixture list, on present form this Saturday.
The games following this ease up for a while, with the dead rubber BATE tie, Birmingham, Sunderland, Burnley and Carlisle coming up so there is a little hope but in an idea world you'd like Everton to continue their recently refound guts for battle and give Chelsea a game. Tall order, but many weren't expecting much against Spurs, and even less after an hour of the game gone. That penalty save from Howard might be massive as you can only imagine the confidence of an Aston Villa repeat, almost 12 months later.
Chelsea suffered a blip this weekend with City coming from behind to gain a very decent win, how many of you was willing Chelsea on in that? The current roster means were not near City's standards but we have resilience and a decent midfield back in place which is making a difference. Chelsea will be looking to put on a performance to keep a slight buffer between them and United coming into the vital Christmas period, that period when United always seem to start a twenty three game unbeaten run, so expect an initial onslaught from the first whistle. Drogba, the big snidey galoot, is a handfull for any defenders, or even fullbacks playing centre half. Lampard - with the very generic face - likes to score against us it seems and there's quality throughout their team which Ancelotti seems to have got playing.
Take away the recent onset on Chelsea shirts all over the show and the genuine Chelsea fans I've met have always seem to be have been sound. Might be something to do with having the experience of being utter dung, post Dixon y Speedie and pre Zola, Poyet and Gullit. You only have to witness the bleating going on over the park as their world falling apart to see what happens when you don't have that experience of being a bit tosh.
That's the mandatory dig in at Liverpool over and done with.
As for us, its defence isn't it? No idea what the week is going to bring, who will be fit to play at centre half and who is going make way after a quarter of an hour. For all the musings online, post Spurs, Neill and Hibbert put in a decent shift considering they were right backs playing in that role, against a very in form Spurs front line. Away to Chelsea may be a different matter you'd think.
But there is the option of Heitinga coming into that position or indeed defensive mid as he returns from suspension. A big game needed from him. The midfield will be devoid of Cahill and I'd wager that we wouldn't start with two up front so it will be interesting to see how Moyes starts this. If Saha or Yakubu was a fit, viable option you'd think the slight underwhelming, but nice effort lad", Jo will make way. Perhaps we'll see Fellaini pushed in behind him, like last year, or maybe with the combustive (and not just his hair) Belgian will be allowed to continue his recent run of decent form in the middle. I'll leave the master tacticians of the forum to chew over that one, and do the annoying starting line up grids, you can bet Coleman will be on most of them this week and with good reason too - you just know Hibbert will start though.
Momentum is a strange thing in sport, so it would be good to keep this going into matches we can potentially gain some much needed points from - the rest is up to you Everton, jolly good luck and thanks for making my Monday morning be less depressing that in recent times.
