Blackburn hope to conclude a deal to sign right-back Pascal Chimbonda from Tottenham by the end of the week for a fee believed to be around £2m.

Rovers chairman John Williams has confirmed to BBC Radio Lancashire that the clubs are in negotiations for the 30-year-old France international.

Chimbonda rejoined Tottenham in January after six months with Premier League rivals Sunderland.

He began his career in England at Wigan after joining from French side Bastia.
