Before VAR was officially launched, it was recommended that ALL stoppages requiring further checking would be relayed on the big stadium screens. This proviso had to be put to, and agreed by, all participating teams.
Only two grounds would not comply because they did not have the big screens, so the idea was scrapped. Only TWO teams remember.
Instead of being told to comply to the rules and the acceptance of the VAST majority of Premier clubs, the spineless FA et al bowed to their wishes and informed the plan to show incidents to the public would not be enforced.
Now I wonder which two grounds were not be big enough to erect these screens?
The answer you already know, namely, the two clubs who could potentially lose out on receiving bad decisions in their favour.
It wouldn't be Cesspool and Manure would it? Would it? Surely not.

Incandescent!
Peculiar that one as they've both managed to put a big screen up when they've hosted Rugby League games.

I have to say this is the weirdest argument you’ve probably made about anything.
Everton have had two clear penalties turned down by VAR in their last two league games. Liverpool got two penalties (both disputed) in the first 30 minutes of their game against Leeds. Who was it benefited from Everton's most recent turned down penalty? Oh yes, Man City. The faceless, unaccountable officials at Stockley Park will usually go with the top six.

Not really peculiar at all when you remember the results at these rugby games don't affect their results.
I do take your point though, if they can erect them for these occasions, then they can for Premier league games. That is more to do with the cowardice of the FA in not wishing to 'ruffle' feathers though.

That's what I was pointing out the peculiarity of. I was agreeing with you. There doesn't seem to be a logistical reason for not putting up big screens unless of course some seating was obstructed/removed for the rugby games to facilitate the big screens.

Sake, I've just defeated my own argument.

Apologies. Your post has amused me probably far more than you intended it to.
Anyway, I enjoyed it and it really has cheered me up. Thank you!

What's most infuriating is the constant harping on by the football talking heads like Lineker, Shearer, Carragher, Neville, etc skirting around the real issue about the need to get these decisions right where the real question they should be asking is WHY are they 'getting them wrong'?

I know it's a different set of circumstances because one was not intentional but the other appears to have been a corrupt decision. But we can't really moan if we do go down by a point. Because if anyone remembers our last relegation scrap a disallowed goal for Nathan Blake would have changed everything and sent us down instead of Bolton..

Its up to us to get out of this there's enough games left to climb out of it

VAR wasnt around then, if it was that goal would have been allowed. VAR was in use on Saturday and failed to get it right. Dont compare with games and/or time when it wasnt used.

Almost makes you wish there wasn't var for the sole fact it makes it undisputed you are a victim of some sort of corrupt decision. Atleast we could just have to accept that the keeper didn't see ot in real-time enough to make a decision.

VAR should atleast make it so justice will be served to the full extent.

But will it?

I'd prefer there wasn't such inconclusive evidence something dodgey happened. Especially if nothing substantial will be done.

occYou got any evidence to suggest it was offside? Looked level to me when sky showed a good angle.

Now I sometimes have opinions contrary to others, such as I was behind the Rafael appointment. But just seems sometimes like you take the minority view for the sake of it?
No, I dont have 'evidence'. that's the very point: I'm backing my own judgement when it occurred over any still images from a discredited VAR system.

If I'm right or wrong then at least I am on my own judgement and I dont rely on being told my own mind by that failed system.

Definitely wrong then.

It would left us with 25 minutes to equalise and about 36 games to escape from the bottom 3. To say we would have been relegated is nonsense tbh. We would have had plenty of bad decisions against us throughout the season too.

I agree you can't look at it as subjectively as I suggested. But I think it's important we don't dwell on it. That's the point I was trying to make

I still think this whole debacle pales in relevance in comparison to the impact usmanovs sanctions will have. I really fear for the stadium and the future of the club

Let's see if Mr kavanagh is really sorry, or is he gonna shaft us further tonight by giving Burnley everything!

An apology with one hand from old mother Riley, then he sticks two fingers up by letting this crook ref the game tonight - load of old shoite! How is he not suspended pending investigation?
