Manchester City tried to sign David Villa, Thierry Henry and Gianluigi Buffon before their failed attempt to capture Kaka from Milan | Football | guardian.co.uk

amongst info is that Moyes just said our lads weren't for sale.

good on him. The time that this club had to sell, is hopefully gone.

Yes we've asked them not to follow up their interest but that doesnt mean they wont. If they carry it on the lore of big wages would unsettle what we've got going here. Maybe City think if they can steal the best players from the clubs around them it would put them in a better possition in the league by weakening those clubs. Sounds like there might be some unrest there now anyway. It must be getting to them that some of Europes best players wont touch them with a barge pole and have knocked them back. Thats good for football I think. Fingers crossed that they go down, I'll be glad to see the back of them. This Sheik will come round to the idea that he bought a lame donkey with a new saddle one day and the sooner the better.

City are the rich kids no-one likes.

Theres something about City that has failure writen all over them and I cant ever see them being a force in this league. Lets just hope when Hughes gets the chop that they leave Moyes alone. Unlike us they've always been a club with no passion or respect and you cant buy that with any amount of money as theyre finding out.

City will be the Leeds of this era, but in reverse, Leeds are a lesson for all clubs on how to keep your budget in check, City are a lesson to everybody that money alone doesnt buy you respect or in their case, success.
