i have a wireless router...

but both my comps are still hardwired to it , it just means that if i ever bring my gf's laptop round, or a friend comes round etc they can connect wirelessly!!

you getting into moderate networking difficulties. one desktop will have to be master (unless you are shelling out large for real time routing)

the auction site beginning with E can fix you some quality deals for computing hardware, netgear have a good online community willing and ready (easy!) to help with all problems.

if i were you id get the best wireless router you can, if for no other reason than for sell on value. if using the 'E' site, watch a few auctions first and get an idea of the current going rate instead of jumping in two footed ;)

netgear router, as new as you like
Bought the wife a lap top from pc world a toshiba on offer so it only cost £450 and was going to get a netgear router but they had a zoom one reduced from £80 to £40 only had it a couple of weeks but its great dose the job she wants and if shes not using it I do because its a lot faster than my desk top still ha vent networked them yet but will when I'm in better frame of mind,

the effort of networking.

i like how you said 'only' 450 nicker btw.

does it have a built in firewall and do you use a software firewall as well?

I just want three desktops connected but in the future I may want a laptop but i wouldn't mind it being connected to a wire.

If I bought this one;

What else would I have to buy to set it up? - Bearing in mind I want all 3 PCs to print to one printer.
Danny the zoom one I got can connect up to 6 computuers or game consoles or printer according to the instructions but the offer ends soon I got mine from the new pc world in Garston

I was expecting to pay £600 so it was a nice suprise yes its got built in firewall and to behonest theres one on it but I switched it off because it was stopping the router connecting but once it connected I was told to switch it back on(this was instructions from help line as im [Poor language removed] at this stuff) also has vista windows took my a while to get used to not using a mouse I was going to get one offebay but with me not knowing a lot thought itbest to get from a shop (my wife and I are not young I would say were old but shes watching)
