Confusion about Europa league/CL

If we were to win the Europa league this year, would we qualify for the champions league (get the playoff place)? That was definitely the rule when it was the UEFA cup, but now apparently if you win it you just get qualification for next year's europa league.

Probably if we win it we will just get back into the same competition next year, but if the RS win it and finish (looking more likely by the day) outside of the CL places they will re-write the rules for the good of football (again)

well obviously that'll happen if they win it, but what is the actual rule as it stands atm?

I've never heard of the UEFA Cup Winners going into the CL the next season. I did hear that the winners now get automatic entry to next seasons Europa League.

Couple of years back, Sevilla won the Uefa Cup two years on the run so they obviously didn't qualify for the CL

There was talk of letting the UEFA cup winner get a bye into the group stages to help spur interest in the cup but nothing came of the talks. Sadly daza is right this rule won't change until a squad like Liverpool, Real Madrid or AC Milan wins it.

I believe there is something in the small print which allows any team reaching the last 16 of the europa cup whilst finishing 9th in their own domestic league to automatically qualify for the champions league final the following season, providing they are managed by a part time spanish waiter who is "unhappy with many things". But what are the chances of that happening?

so if you win it, but finish top 4, you'd go in the c.l.qualifiers. imagine goin' out of those and haved missed out on going straight into the Europa group stage.
or would you enter the c.l. later because of winning the Europa ?
