Contract Window?

With all this Lukaku thing, it got me thinking (this is not always a good thing!)

We have transfer windows - the aim of which is to have a set period of time for squads to remain settled and to stop mid-season tapping-ups. Why do we therefore not have a contract window? This would prevent this instability that can arise, as we have now, among players who are reaching the last few years of a contract and can essentially derail a teams season...
