I bought this pair of sperry's off ebay during there 30% sale deal thing Shoes at TheShoeMart.com - Moreschi, shell cordovan, sperry topsiders, alden shoes, dexter bowling shoes

since it was sort of an impulse buy, i didn't really consider that i couldn't really wear shoes that light in color with dress clothes, and i'm not sure if the guy i bought it from will let me exchange.

does anyone know of a safe, reliable way to darken a pair of shoes like that (shoe polish or spray or something)?

since it was such a good deal, if he doesn't take the exchange i'm only out $35 dollars, but i'd still rather make some extra use out of these shoes.

thought this was gonna be a thread about some fancy shoes that did something fancy, like pulling shoes or lucky shoes or even the 'arl puking shoes.

have you thought of going in a muddy field or even doing an oil change in them, my bets are they would be considerably darker then.

Why can't you wear light coloured shoes with dress clothes? Think of it as the new "red socks" of high cultured fashion. Be a daring devil and flout the silly dress rules that you are afraid of. Come on man, you're not in England. You Americans are more gutsy than those pasty-faced Englanders. (y)

Hi Toffiestillidie, how did you get on with your shoes. Did you go with the darkening idea's or did you go out of step with the fashion police ?

I'd have just used dark polish and elbow grease, but I'm sort of an old fashion conformist on this sort of thing. I hope you saw the red sock suggestion as a red herring, blue socks for us(y)
