Villa signs for Barca

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11827_6162396,00.html

Barcelona have splashed out £34.2million to lure David Villa away from Primera Liga rivals Valencia.

The Catalan giants came close to signing the highly-rated striker last summer, before begrudgingly accepting defeat in their endeavours.

In the end they spent big on Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but he has struggled to make the desired impact in Spain.

Barca have therefore turned their attention back to Villa, with an agreement now reached to take him to Camp Nou.

The 28-year-old is widely regarded as one of the world's most lethal frontmen, having displayed remarkable consistency throughout his career.

Finishing touches
Barca are now hoping to benefit from his considerable talent and have handed him a four-year contract.

Villa, who is expected to shine for Spain at this summer's World Cup, is set to undergo a medical at Camp Nou on Friday before putting the finishing touches to his move.

A statement on Barcelona's official website read: "FC Barcelona and Valencia CF closed a 40million euro deal for Spanish striker David Villa on Wednesday morning.

"The Spanish international is due in Barcelona on Thursday evening and will have a medical on Friday morning. Villa will then be officially unveiled as a Barca player."

Where the hell do they get £34m from???

even still, thats a heck of a lot of money. and they signed ibrahimovic the season before.

it's really not funny actually

Fabregas could be there by the weekend too apparently :D

But seriously, £34m for Villa is a bargain, and Ibra could be on his way in the summer

David Villa always impresses me, for such a little man he leads the line so well, constantly moving and giving his team options. It'll be interesting to see how they line up if they get hold of the likes of Villa and Fabregas. Iniesta might get moved to the left handside with Fabregas and Xavi playing centrally and a holding midfielder behind them.

Which fecking thread are we using here?

And Barca don't necessarily need a holding midfielder with the way they play

Wow, our threads were literally a minute apart, but I got mine posted first. :p

That said, for £34m im pretty sure even Barca can find room on the pitch for him.

I thought you meant Barcalona had bought Aston Villas starting 11 and Martin O'neill. As ball boy.
