Dean Ashton?

I have this vivid lingering image of ashton turning weir, running towards our goal and hammering one in the bottom corner of the goal.

I say Yes.

It would be an interesting one because it would mean a distinct change in style of play, allowing him to link midfield and attack and build more slowly rather than hitting the channels for AJ to chase and stretch the defence.

Good observation Bruce. Ashton is not that slow although he'd never keep up with Vaughan or AJ. If this was true it would give us another option, one we don't have at present although DM had hoped for it, a goal scoring centre forward of the old school thus making our style of play less predictable. Ashton could do everything BT has failed to do, I hope at least.

Marlon Harewood goal scoring machine? Have you been playing too much Championship manager with edited stats?

Even if you edited the stats on Championship manager Marlon Harewood still would not be a goal scoring machine!!!

Has Ashton truly recovered from his injury though that is the point, would not want another player who consistently inhabits the treatment room. If he has come good then Yes to a swap.

I think that would be a gamble in itself still rob. Not even sure if he has a full game under his belt again yet. He has always been injury prone.

So is he worth 2mill plus BT???

My gut instinct would be NO. only because we don't know exactly what we are getting and how long he could be useful. At least an injured player won't get selected though and take a good players spot, unlike BT, but still a waste of wages.

Who in their right minds would swap even a one-legged Ashton for Beattie? The 'rumour' that Ashton has become homesick during his long time recovering from injury gives the story a slither of creedence (I'm sure it's a difficult time for a player), but IMHO it's a crock, probably started by a wicked blue, in retalliation for all the AJ/Cahill/Arteta to West Ham bollocks.

Still, being a football fan, I can't bring myself to completely discount it; I say "yes". (y)
