Mike Dean let the cat out of the bag with his, 'protecting a mate'. That wasn't ineptitude but a conscience decision. How many other refs have 'protected their mates' with decisions to not view VAR etc..Dean's remark shows a conscious bias to protect officials in particular the FIFA lot.

This has been going on against us for years. The amount of shirt holding against Sheff United was disgraceful. Nothing was done about it at all.

MIne was neil midgley and the pat nevin no pen in the cup at liverpool. I was in the away end and saw the most blatant pen you will ever see in your life. Then to compound the piss take he started booking Everton players.
Made you just want to give up.

I reckon it is wild inconsistency and massive incompetence. I doubt the officials even knew the rules for the Danjuma foul (by the written laws of the game it was a pen). For every other sport I’m aware of there is huge value in applying the laws of the game with consistency and accuracy. Screw ups and edge cases are rare and debated. In footy, and the Prem it seems it’s even worse, the incompetence is all part of the show. The talking head retired refs still chat absolute wham making it up as they go along.

There was a proper weird situation yesterday, not sure how it was covered on TV. When we got the free kick for the foul on Danjuma on the edge of the box, the ref measured 10 yards, sprayed the line, but the Sheff U players stood about a foot in front of it. Young noticed, called the ref over, who instead of telling the Sheff U players to move back, sprayed ANOTHER totally different line about half a yard closer to the ball than his original one. Young was going mental, and the ref just walked off. Was utterly bizarre.

Never seen anything like that and probably won't again unless it's in an Everton game.

The corner leading up to our goal yesterday, betos shot was blocked by the defenders elbow and should have been a pen for me.

I'm sure Dermott will look at it tomorrow and tell us that we scored from the corner anyway. Actually it might not be looked at all.

Pretending it doesn’t happen is self-righteous. We can argue about the degree and all of that but it happens in sports all of the time- especially in those where the officials aren’t held accountable. Call it whining if it helps you feel better about yourself. It happens.

I don’t need anything to feel better about myself, the irony is that’s exactly what this thread is about.

What exactly am I pretending doesn’t happen? There are bad referees everywhere making bad decisions. They sometimes can’t even get it correct with video evidence.

They are being held accountable more than ever, but there’s only so much that can be done. There’s a referee shortage because no one in their right mind would want that job. Not even at youth level.

If Fulham scored that goal with a player stood offside in front of the keepers eyeline, chances are they would disallow it for interfering with play.

The extra squirted line is still my 'Niasse' moment. Never ever seen that happen.
