Still cant believe (if true) Ba would even have to consider picking between us and Newcastle there not bigger, better prospects nothing all they can offer is a bit more money.

Slowly falling out of love with the modern game, would understand if it was us against a top side playing in Europe.

Football is a job.

Jobs are for money.

Newcastle look to be offering more money.

Felt like that for ages mate, good post.

Blue tinted glasses aside, I someone offers you 50k a week, and someone offers you 20% more, who are you going to choose. Tradition has no place in the modern game.

That said you would be amazed at some of the contracts, some Man U players were on over the years compared to players at other clubs.

100% true but seeing as he's going to be filthy rich either way you'd hope he'd choose us, I guess that's just me being biased.
But yeah it comes down to money money money, saying that however, if Newcastle have offered him more why hasn't he signed for them already?

Yes but that age has come to an end, isn't Rooney on nearly a million quid a month or something ridiculous.

Bearing in mind - would you argue or ask for a payrise from Fergie? I know I'd be terrified.

He has a point though, personaly if he came to us for less money i would think a lot of him as we are clearly the best footballing choice presently.

That's a good point. If he did turn down a better offer financially to come to us, that would say a lot about his ambition and his character.

Can't see that being the case though.

Footballers have a short career and you can't blame them for wanting to scrape as much money out of it as possible.

As for your last point, I have no idea. If it's true he's out of the country then maybe he's tasked his agents with brokering the best deals possible before coming back and picking one himself.

Yeah yeah course I guess i'm just seeing it from a fan point of view.

LCAB did say something about Everton being his preference, so we shall see. Tbh I reckon he'll go to them but I want him at Goodison.

Thats the nail on the head with my point really, you would hope that someone who has had serious injury problems prior to West Ham would like to continue to prove himself with a better footballing option, geninue prospects of European football but sadly the modern way of the game doesnt allow us to see decisions like this made most of time.

Lets face it realistically whatever Everton we're offering it would still be good money. The guy might prove me wrong and come here and like you Neiler even if it didn't work out for him here I would have great respect that he came to us not for the money.

So frustrating no matter what you do as a club now days , how much stability you have , if an absolute woeful club like the barcodes yoyo'ing in and out of the Championship pay an agent fee , someone would prefare to join a club who sack managers as regular as Ryan Giggs affairs , it's a waste of time getting wound up as a football fan now because 90% of players couldn't give a **** about there clubs , Iam very slowly falling out of love with the game myself

Sadly nail on head that.

Look up Cherno Samba, Lionel Morgan, Justin Georcelin etc. for details.

Apperently their are a lot mpore mealtheir footballers out there then Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes - despite the longevity of their careers.

If you look at Utd over the years a lot of players left in search of a pay day, Butt, Phil Neville, Yorke, Tevez, Cole, Heinze, Bruce, Pallister, Hughes, Kanchelskies - even now you see the likes of Brown and O Shea considering moves.

He is canny is Fergie when it comes to wages. He knows how to pay well and not so well depending on the player.

Slightly different angle here..
What might attract Ba to Newcastle is the fact that they have feck all in terms of competition up front. At Everton he'd be competing with Saha, Beckford et al..at times with just one selection (and granted the injuries)..

Trying my best to be impartial here...I lived in Newcastle for 3 years during the mid to late 90s...I was in the town when they rioted after throwing the league away. There's a lot of passion for football and the stadium is wonderful. Sure the fans have an inflated opinion of their team , but I can imagine as a footballer it would be a great place to play- they really do hero worship their players.

If they offer more cash we can't really blame him. Even though he has more chance of winning things, or getting some taste of Europe with us...
