Everton manager David Moyes was pleased with the way his side battled to win 2-1 at Wigan on Sunday afternoon.
First-half goals from Andy Johnson and Joleon Lescott were enough for The Toffees, who now sit fourth in the Premier League table.
Moyes admitted that his side failed to perform to their usual high standards, but was happy with the way they dug in to secure three points.
"It was a battle, and we probably went in [to half-time] two goals ahead not really justifying it," he told Sky Sports.

"But nevertheless we were clinical and when we got the chances we took them.
"I didn't think we played well, but I knew why; it was because Wigan had played well. They never let us settle.
"All credit to our lads. As the season goes on you have grind wins out. It's an important three points."
Moyes went on to discuss Wednesday's Carling Cup second leg against Chelsea, admitting that he was thoroughly looking forward to the encounter after the first leg at Stamford Bridge finished 1-1.
He said: "I think it is [one of the biggest games of my Everton career]."
