Up the toffees
Anybody tried to just leave all of the forums, Facebook ect for a few months?
Thinking of giving it a go.
Just using my phone as just that to make call ect.
Seem to spend a lot of time just looking at a screen( don't know what. but feel I should be doing something else.)
Any experience of doing this?
Before some smart arse says they didn't have a mobile till they were 20 or something I mean recently.

I left both Facebook and Instagram a few years back, and I've never looked back. Was the same, sick of scrolling through crap. This is the only thing I really use

I haven't used Facebook or any other social media apart from this for a couple of years.

All my groups on WhatsApp are muted and I permanently keep my phone on silent.

I scroll more on here, Guardian and YouTube than I probably should but I only do it for a few mins at a time during breaks usually.

Feel a lot better for it. I think social media whilst it has the power to benefit knowledge and communication if used correctly is generally a negative for people's mental health.

Maybe start with deleting certain apps, rather than going cold turkey.

If I didn't have bills to pay, I wouldnt have a smart phone. Ditching it would be the very first thing I did if I won the lottery.

I give it a miss every now and then, be it a weekend or sometimes a week or two, and read a couple of books, use the weekend getting out for some fresh air , life is a lot more relaxed doing it mate
That's what I was thinking jaycee
Seems to be between bank apps ect, you are sitting there looking at a screen, have to for work but I am basically looking at nonsense on Facebook ect, that in reality ihavnt got the slightest interest in.
Don't mind youtube .
Sooner read a book or listen to the radio while doing something.

My hands wouldn’t know what to do otherwise. I’m only one one social media app and GOT so not all bad.

Willing to bet that digital overload plays a pretty big part in why ADHD diagnosis sky rocketing amongst children. For 1000s of years the human brain was only so used to being able to handle so much information a day, now we have a screen which is constantly demanding of our attention, leading to cognitive overload.

I have to say I was much happier before it all, and I work in the technology sector.

It's almost impossible to go complete cold turkey, what with online banking etc but if I am taking a break I tend to leave my phone in the house if I'm going for a walk or whatever, put it on mute and lash it in a drawer or something if I'm reading, even a couple of days without your phone constantly in your hand your brain feels a lot less foggy

Yes. It's surprisingly easy. I was off for a few weeks and I will probably repeat it. The only social media/ forum I frequently use is this site now.

You can make calls on these things as well???

Closed my Facebook account about 9 years ago but barstewards still retain all my data and constantly try to get me to log in again. Deleted twitter about a year ago. Both cespits of far-right racist and misogynistic content.

Facebook was wild in the run up to brexit, people I only know in passing liking and amplifying outright racist and made up stuff. Meet them in public and butter wouldn't melt in their mouths.

Can only imagine how bad it is now.
