Suggestion, like.

I'm sure there are a few blues on here who, like me, can't/don't go to a local pub or to the games due to distance (wools, etc).

Discord is a app on PC (client and browser), Mac, Android and iOS which provides free text and voice communication. A bit like WhatsApp, maybe (I've never used WhatsApp). You join a server (which would be set up by GOT, don't think there's a cost), where there are a number of text and voice channels that you click on to join.

It could be good for match days in particular where match threads are currently used like a live text chat (could ease forum server load?).

It's mostly used for gaming related activities, but there's nothing to say you couldn't do one for football. I think it could work pretty well.

For example, here's what mine looks like for a Twitch streamer that I follow:
0c28168276962ab925a31e3f3ed88e36.png

List of different servers (the icons) on the left, then the various text and voice channels for that server, the chat window, then the user list on the right.

Like I said, there's no cost associated with it so the question is, would people use it?

Why would you move traffic off the site?

I know zip all about discord, but Danny's already setup a whatsapp thingy for grandoldteam at https://www.grandoldteam.com/whatsapp/

I know diddly squat about whatsapp too, but maybe give that a try first ?

Doesn't and never worked for me for some reason.

Discord's alright tbh, it's just the new TeamSpeak/Ventrilo/whathaveyou - a chat and voice room for people. If someone can be arsed to click about 4 times to set one up - good on them, I'd join for a bit really.
