Theres no way moody bollocks will have anything to do with everton after the end of this season. Think Alcaraz will be gone too.
 

I think they'll let Distin go but give Alcaraz the option of a 1 year deal. hope I'm wrong though and we get shot of both.
 
I think that amateur supporters struggle with what happens in professional football. They expect those involved to tell it as it is.
In professional sport it is more about interpreting what isn't said rather than what is.
Martinez said that the door hasn't been closed on new contracts for both Alcaraz and Distin. What he is aying really is that as far as I am concerned they are out the door, but I can't say that because we may have an injury and suspension crisis so bad that I may be forced to play them...unlikely as that is. But I can't afford to look ridiculous so I will pretend they are still part of the squad and by the way even though we have agreed a deal for Cleverly ten months ago we will still refuse to talk about him because he is employed by another club.

As opposed to professional supporters, better hearsed in the art of being sky sports news soothsayers? Agreed, he can't be seen to be jibbing anyone off just yet.

What would be the benefit of saying we aren't giving them a new contract?

At least Distin will be certain he isn't, he's been playing with the U21s and we were happy for him to leave for West Ham in the January window without any compensation but they couldn't agree personal terms.

My pet hate is managers throwing players under the bus publically, think it not only snide but an example of poor leadership skills. It also tends to lead to tit for tat leaks for the press, all gets very messy and nobody ends up looking good.

So very happy we appear to be maintaining the polite fiction that an extension is still on the cards, might also help Distin find another club and a better deal if he doesn't want to retire and he has been a good player for us over the years.
 
I'm pretty sure nobody really knows, but there must be some rumours (credible or otherwise) on what's happened behind the scenes with Distin this season?

If it's common knowledge, it seems to have passed me by, so apologies if I look like a clueless [Poor language removed] at the moment.

I don't think anyone knows for sure mate. But it's a bit of a coincidence that he's not been seen near the first team since there were rumours about a bust up with the gaffer.

Putting him with the u21's is a major punishment, so just can't see him staying here at all.

That is very true, no one has a clue what, if anything, has gone down with him, except his performance level.
 
If players want out then we will know about it soon enough until then I think anything out of bobby,s gob should be be best ignored.
