Say no more...

Musical genius at work, so step back and take a bow.

Love to see them walk into X-Factor auditions and blow those mindless numb f***'s out of the water.

When did music lose its soul? The day music became about money and not about music.

I bought this CD ages ago when I was learning guitar, and wow what an inspiration. Can do more with 2 fingers then most can do with 5. Shame he died so young.

when soul moved out of the churches and ghettos and that old acquaintance 'greed' was brought into the product.

music is rarely about a message now, its all image and being a junkie - and touting ones naff offerings to some fat suit with grey hair and a pony tail.

Well thank goodness for iTunes, I can listen to what I want, when I want, and now with iPod, where I want. (god I sound like an advert)

And no need for me to listen to "Just Jack", "Cockney speaking music" or Mika or whatever is twatting name is.

Saw Grapelli in concert early 90's in Jersey, all the pop stars turned out for the show and it was simply the best I have seen his wizardry beguiled the entire threatre. The world will never see their likes again unfortunately, both are true jazz greats.

When did you learn about good music:lol:

I disagree a little bit, music is a form of entertainment and if people are entertained then it is music.

whether you like it, respect it or down right hate it, doesn't make it bad and vice versa because you like it doesn't make it good.

I have alot of respect for musicians, I am one myself, a lot of hard work and dedication goes in.

Unfortunatley I have seen a lot of musicians who are too obsessed with showing off than trying to play songs that sound good.

Why all this when Monty made a joke, how big is your soap box, I think he's right about you. Quite honestly mate you can like what you like I couldn't give one, if you want something on this topic start a thread but to react to a clear joke, come on:(

Rob I agree with that to an extent. But music today is primarily about making money. XFactor bollocks etc.....

Some do it for the attention, the drugs, the women, the lifestyle. Most do it for the money. And I personally think very little do it for the art.

what? my post has nothing to do with what monty said...

I'm with you 100% on that one ghost, its all about money nowadays and the line between music and entertainment have gone from blurry to distinct.

I call boy bands etc entertainers and people who are actually musically inclined musicians.

Anyway, back to my original point. I think musicians really need to start entertaining more, I recently went to the monterey Jazz festival and such a show of musical wanking I had never before witnessed.

The music didn't flow and the blokes on stage were showing off whatever they could that was technically hard but musically terrible on the ears.

I for one, think this is very harsh. Rob was just getting into the discussion, his comments do not appear to be aimed at monty in any way, shape or form. You are seeing things that aren't there.

I suggest you cool down a little.

I'm going to have to keep this image handy I think

Lets just keep on subject shall we, as a musician I do find it an interesting one.

This is a good video to illustrate my point, when they play the solo played by Reinhardt fits the tempo and feeling of the music.

Didn't know that about his hand though, my best mate was born with one arm (elbow down) and he can play the bass and the guitar and the piano so I can really respect that.
