Tbf, he's scored in every game he's started this season apart from the Emirates and against Fulham...

He has improved it marginally but needs to do better.

The problem I see with him is his lack of quality though. @BillLovesRoo in response to your point about him playing in different positions, it's clear that managers do see value in him. But my issue is that it's always as a tactic to fill a gap.

When I watch him I see little quality in his play. He doesn't have a good enough first touch, he misplaces lay off passes, he allows himself to get beaten in the air by smaller defenders, he isn't a clinical finisher.

So all he provides is 'something different' but there is no real quality there. That isn't going to get us pushing on to the next level.

I do think he is Premier League standard and as a squad player I think he's a good option to have in certain games, but if I was to make a prediction about his career, I don't think he will ever be good enough to be a starter for a top 6 side.

This is a fair assesment, but if you factor in that none of our other strikers do any of those things anyway then we may as well play DCL and hope he builds his confidence.

I personally think he has a high potential and is still young enough to grow.

He shot up a lot this season both in height and bulk, at least I felt so when I first saw him this season. This will aid him in the long run.

I see all of that too, but I think it's too early to judge. Write off last season, pretend that before this he just had half a season, and judge him 18 months from now, after he's played around 35 times as a starter or sub - say he gets 20 starts and 15 subs appearances in the next one and half seasons, and he scores 15 times, that will be impressive i think.

Better than most of you seem to think I reckon.

I hope to be proved wrong in January if we get another striker in, but i'm not sure any striker would flourish in our current system.

Same here, he must have been packing those egg butties away last summer.

We'd have more luck in January finding a winger who actually contributed goals or assists, Walcott and Bernard have their qualities but they've provided nothing in those terms for too long now.

Yeh, we certainly don't create enough chances for the actual striker that plays in our system. But in fairness, the chances do get created for other players.

The two chances that came Dom's way on Saturday - the first one Ederson made a good save (though it was offside) and the second one Dom scored. Can't think he got any other balls into him all game?

There was that back heel that was on target from him, little more pace on it and it would have went in

Just the one where he improvised a back flick which was pretty comfortably saved by Ederson. Still was a good effort from a pretty poor cross.

Ah yeh!

One of them that if he makes a better contact it could have gone in, tbf.

I like Dom. Won't pretend he's a world beater, because he isn't, but he's useful.

Has everyone forgotten how utterly hopeless we looked the last time DCL was our starting striker?

There's a reason we took an expensive gamble on Tosun.
He played in one of the most negative footballing sides I've seen us put out to be fair to him, not one player enhanced their reputation playing in that side.
