Clubs cant go spending 30-40m, just in case.

….it’s a huge gamble for any club to rely on a single striker, never mind a fragile one. Let’s not forget, we were playing the likes of Rondon & Gordon as central strikers for a month into the season, then acquired Maupay who truly isn’t the answer.

DCLs predicament is no surprise, it’s been highlighted as an ongoing issue on here for a long time. The club should’ve brought in an effective option, it was negligent not to do so & has already been very costly.

it’s a situation that has to be addressed in January.

We have 3 Strikers and 4 forwards, its hardly negligent.

And yes, hindsight, I did state at the start of the season our attacking options were bad, without DCL they are none existent.

Absolutely classic Everton though that a striker who had very few problems before gets one injury and it leads to a succession of injuries that keeps him out for best part of two seasons just as he’s finally hit top form after we put years of development into him. It’s just peak Everton. We can’t sell him for the price we could have done and we’re left with a crock.
Yeah, one thing I always thought he had going for him was his fitness record.

Considering his spell of being ice-cold in front of goal came during a season played behind closed doors, I wonder if we'll ever manage to move him on for big money now.

No it's not. It was never about an injury. And I'm not the only one here who wants to see the back of him...not by a long chalk.

We'd get a new striker in for sure in January nand have half a chance of staying up.

I support Everton, I have no allegiance whatsoever to any player.
Just crap, past it, ex rs managers it would seem.
lol
Disgusting.

How did we add depth if we replaced someone with a worse player?

You should never spend money on players with the idea that they’ll be a backup. That’s exactly how you get progressively worse year upon year. Every player should be signed with the intention that they’ll improve the first team in some way.
Depth does not mean back up.

Depth means they add competition.
