Perhaps he is just waiting to see how the ownership situation develops before committing the rest of his career to us. An ambitious owner might be enough to convince him to stay so that he can play in a competitive team in a beautiful shiny new stadium.

Likely to be his last big contract if he was to see it out. As such its perfectly reasonable that he turns down the first offer and pushes for more.

Thats a big difference from "I don't want to sign another contract".
