2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

I just don’t understand how anyone could want him to stay, for one he’s ran his contract out despite us offering to be one of our highest earners, he’s not a natural goal scorer at all and to top it off, he can’t stay fit. We can do far better than Dominic Calvert Lewin, it’s time to thank him for his time and wish him well somewhere else.

Yeah mad how he didn't accept the 235k/week offer but he's worth it really.

I'm not his biggest fan and never have been and i would have liked to sell him last summer, but id use him now as an asset, get him on a new contract on the best terms we can, look to improve up front in the summer, without having to revamp all our forwards in one go and shift him in a year or so.

Its the pragmatic thing to do.

I know everyone wants a rebuild in one window but really its going to take 2-3 and be more incremental.

It's only the pragmatic thing to do if the deal makes financial sense for the club.

It still depends on the wages. And I imagine he will want a long term contract

I wouldn't stress to much on the wages mate - unless it was something stupid like 160k a week.

He would cost less then another forward, on lower wages but coming in on a fee of 25 mill.

Im not saying hes the long term answer, im more thinking of asset management and our current position - id retain the asset and look to sell him in a year or so and have him as a squad option while we rebuild, it might enable us to realize a value on Beto and go after another Alpha striker in year one of the rebuild.

3 year deal with a club on option on a fourth. Let Moyes breath a bit of confidence into him, build away from him and bin him of to Sheff Utd or someone for a fee.

It wouldn't break my heart if he leaves, in fact i wouldn't blink, im not a huge fan, but as a above i'm thinking pragmatically, taking the emotions out of it.
