2024/25 Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Probably due to the fact he's injured?

He's probably a gonner anyway, and Turkey/Greece aren't that bad, it's warm and sunny at least, a lot of beaches... Could be worse to be honest.
Yes pal, that was the implication. He's injured and time is running out for him to get fit and get into the team.

I find it very unlikely he's going to manage to get fit enough to start and be chosen over Beto for anything other than maybe the last match of the season as a gesture of thanks.

I don't think he should be chosen over Beto at all at any rate, we've found a way to play to his strengths and he's in form (despite some misses last time out).

But I still find that there's a sliver of fume-filled hope if he signs for a year AND scores the last goal at BMD... Hmmmmmmmmmmm

I think he genuinely wanted a move and did not intend to run his contract down. We can all discuss the Newcastle deal and why it failed, but we don't really know the truth as there was speculation on both sides as to why the move was declined. He just hasn't proven himself regardless of what you think of him as a striker. His injuries have really derailed his career. I think this was the worst time for him to leverage a big move. His stock wasn't high enough at the time. His best chance was during Carlo's reign.

I wouldn't stress to much on the wages mate - unless it was something stupid like 160k a week.

He would cost less then another forward, on lower wages but coming in on a fee of 25 mill.

Im not saying hes the long term answer, im more thinking of asset management and our current position - id retain the asset and look to sell him in a year or so and have him as a squad option while we rebuild, it might enable us to realize a value on Beto and go after another Alpha striker in year one of the rebuild.

3 year deal with a club on option on a fourth. Let Moyes breath a bit of confidence into him, build away from him and bin him of to Sheff Utd or someone for a fee.

It wouldn't break my heart if he leaves, in fact i wouldn't blink, im not a huge fan, but as a above i'm thinking pragmatically, taking the emotions out of it.
If we have to replace DCL then that is going to cost at least 30m(probably a lot more) to get someone ready to play Premiership immediately. We already know the price for Broja and he has had more injury issues than most.

I would be happy for DCL to sign an extension, I don't think he is getting huge wages anywhere because of his injury record and we should not offer silly wages either.

In any event I think the decision to leave is already made and probably a deal in place already. I think Newcastle or West Ham being very likely.

For me i dont think he's commited enough, and that for me if a sign i would let him go. I almost think he is a bit backtracking and hoping we keep him - if he really wanted to stay, he should have signed any pos new deal offered to him instead of it sounded at times like he's wanted a fortune from us. He only stayed not long ago if you believe the rumours because he didnt get offered enough to leave. He did have his best game in a while v Spurs, before lasting that short time the very next game v Brighton
