Donald Trump for President Thread

to be honest, from my perspective onthe whole debate, the political system as it stands rests on a clinton win. If she wins, then the status quo is maintained, but Trump wins somehow and both parties have to go back to the drawing board in terms of candidacies. Best and worst thing to happen as @Prevenger17 says is for him to win because it burns the establishment down. He won't be supported yet be the man in charge, neither side will want him to be given another term and both will have to come up with something special to come back after 4 years to try and fix it all.
Possibly yes. But the "establishment " could put up the argument that the old way was better. Agree shake up is needed but not via Trump.

It would give the 2 parties a hilarious bloody nose. If I were American, I'd be utterly sick to death of Clintons and Bushes being wheeled out every 8 years. Trump just proposed term limits for congress and senate members, not a bad idea for any candidate imo
This sounds like a good idea, but I think it's actually a really bad one. One of the problems with the House of Representatives is that a 2 year term means they are constantly campaigning. That means they have to bend to the short term will of the people over the long term benefit of the society.

Which is more democratic...but the Senate is there precisely to put a break on that process, we're a Republic for a reason. Basically term limits deincentivize experience. And don't you want people that know what they're doing working for you?

I'm not violently opposed to the idea...it has idealistic merit certainly. I just am not sure if it would work well given real world constraints? Wouldn't it be nicer if we could re-elect Obama instead of having this mess? At least for another term?

Having the term limit is also a break on the people's will...if the People want to be governed by someone, why should we disallow it?

Eh...just some ramblings on that subject.

As i said previously what if trump was all talk and no action? Acting the part rather than being the part to project the image he wanted people to see of him?

Think this may go in circles here even though i am not dismissing any allegation or at least not purposely. If the allegations are correct then i hope he goes to court and gets the full punishment that his crimes warrant.
but in all reality the tape by itself just proves he talked like that and did that behind closed doors. is that the real him? To be honest yes, he probably is like that and therefore again another point on how he is unfit for the job. but the tape is less evidence against any crimes he may as committed by itself, like filming allardyce the other week, he committed no crimes, it was the possibility that he may do/have that cost him his job ultimately.
I am clearly not eloquent enough to get my point across to you and at this point bashing my head against a brick wall would be far more enjoyable so I'm not going to reply to you further.

Wait a minute, Trump a billionaire from the establishment is going to burn it down?

That doesn't make sense to me.

Mate it is just like putting one of us in the job. We wouldn't have a clue what we were doing. Trump is exactly the same. so in essence a president who doesn't know how to be one would mean both sides have to not only stop his mess ups but come back with genuine leaders the next time.

and the old way would get trump essentially! so they would clearly need to be backing candidates for a lot longer and not just leaving them open for any old candidate to win the place, remember they had 8 years to get a candidate and this was the best both sides got!

Trump wants to ban vaping though.

Four years is a long time to leave an idiot in any job.

Hi Legs. I'm sort of with Ash in that I want Trump elected, though I simultaneously acknowledge that Trump is most probably a sex pest. Please direct all further arguments towards me

to be fair you are just dismissing any potential chance of what i say. Anything i pose hyothetically would change perception of both potential presidents but you are taking the one subject and dismissing anything i put otherwise on the matter.

so we will leave it as that. Shocking! two people on the internet talk politics and don't agree! ;)

Aye, but increase the term? Say, every 4 years. Senate is 6 years isn't it? To be honest, I don't believe for a second the Don would actually introduce term limits, just that it would be a good idea
Basically, my argument is that democracy is crap - to not be crap it requires the voting populace to be informed and educated...which considering the complexity of daily life, let alone our political sphere, is functionally impossible - most of the professionals can't seem to do it effectively. But I can't think of anything better outside of the Platonic philosopher-king...which is about the same as a proper democracy pipe-dream.

Term-limits are undemocratic though. If a district wants the same Rep for 60 years, well...shouldn't they be allowed to choose their own government? Why should someone be barred?

I'm not AGAINST your idea...I just want to really know why it's a 'good' idea?

aye, the positive for Americans is that the vast majority of the senate and whatever else wouldn't support him.

All they would have to do is avoid going to war for 4 years, then they would be home free as i'm sure not even the republicans would back him again.
