Robert Jarvis

Player Valuation: £35m
Quite a bit in the papers today about him leaving. Claims he was sold behind his back by City's man Cook though at the time Hughes was reassuring him things were okay.

In the end was forced out because he was told City needed the money!!!!!!!

Got 5 mill for Dunne and paid 22 mill for Lescott so that leaves 18 mill, the amount of the last declared bid to Everton????:dodgy:

Sold because they needed the money, I wonder if in fact Hughes had got to a budget limit in signing Lescott?

I don't think MH has a budget more of an excuse to push the captain and player of the year, longest serving player out of the club, City are now just another Corporate Club who do not give a damn about loyalty.

Just shows how souless the club is now. I bet they didnt even give him a handshake on the way out. Dunne will probably be easily forgotten by the Citeh fans now.

But I do think Citeh have a budget for the players Hughes (or the Chairmen) want. I've always said that for all their riches, offering £15mill then just £18mill and stuttering on increasing that offer seemed strange. They do have limits depending on the class of player.

Apparently Gary Cooke had promised him a testimonial.

Then a few days back he said he wouldn't get one.

That stinks, City are just about my most hated club now(n)

Hughes on the transfer -
"“Richard Dunne went for talks this afternoon. It's down to Richard, really. He's been fantastic for Manchester City.

"But I couldn't guarantee him regular first-team football this year with the people we've brought in, and I wasn't going to stand in his way. I could have been selfish, but it's out of the respect I have for him that I've allowed him to talk to Villa.”

Richard dunne on the transfer -
"They told me they'd accepted an offer," said Dunne. "I said 'what happens if I want to stay and fight for my place?'.

"It was quite funny because they told me 'no, we need the money', so that was that. I was told I had to go, which is the frustrating part about it.

"I wasn't given the opportunity to stay and fight for my place - that's what was annoying.

"I played right up to the day I left. I was always playing, then they signed some other defenders and that was it."

Someone looks a **** over that...and it's not dunne

Its funny how their fans all of a sudden had no use for him either and couldn't wait to get rid of him. After all, he was only 2 time POY and may have been the main reason why they avoided the drop the past few years.

Was 3 times poy wasn't it? It's New Man City nowdays though, players who gave 9 years of their career to the club don't mean much when you're "chasing" league titles.

Ignoring the sentiment, but he wasnt good enough, it might seem heartless, but they aint running a nursery.

Just my feeling on it all.

True. But they're moneybags fc apparantly and he said he wanted to stay. For someone who is the clubs captain and been loyal for that long, they couldve at least respected his wishes and give him a chance to fight for his place. It's also funny how their fans turned on him.

And sparky coming across like he was doing dunne a favour by selling him, even though he dindt want to go, reinforces how much of a **** he's turned into

Oh Hughes is a full on bell. I hope everybody remembers this when he gets sacked and hes looking for a job. Somebody will slap him on the touchline this season, my money is on Moyes for sure.

guys let me clear a few things up :D

dunney had 3 years left as he signed a new deal the same wek hughes took over.

he was player of the season for 4 years running before last season.

the way he has been treated ALARMS me bigtime because i wouldnt treat my dog that way.

hughes seems to be either two faced or he is cooks puppet and i dont rate cook at all and either before this dunne transfer as ive had my doubts starting from ronaldinhogate, kakagate, etogate and now the total disrespect of dunney who has stayed with us through the hard times when he had chances to leave us when we was dire.

ive raised my concerns on my regular city forum about this and some people agree with me about cook who ISNT a football man but a top class commercial person who should stick to that because he knows jack [Poor language removed] about football.

please dont think that all city fans are thinking everything in the eastlands garden is rosey because there are concerns but money isnt a problem as was quoted by dunney it was a very lame and poor excuse to shift him through the door like the club didnt care for him.

very poor show by the top brass at city for the disrespect they have shown our loyal captain for 9 years and they should be bloody ashamed the way they have conducted themselves.

thanks for reading this lads but i felt i needed to let off some steam lol

Didn't know he was a 4 time POY, wow and to get that kind of treatment.

I'm sure that alot of City fans feel the way you do and for the most part City fans are a decent lot and I'd rather see them win the league than say Chelsea or liverpool anyday. I just remember reading all these posts like "now that we signed Toure all we need is one more CB and we could finally get rid of Dunne."

Now I know Dunne had a bad season but all players go into slumps. Neville was terrible 2 years ago but now is one of our most consistent players. Why none of those fans would not want too keep him just for the sake of having a bit more depth and leadership I can't understand. After all Toure was booed off the pitch last year and Lescott was dreadful for about 1/3 of the season last year you might find out that you'll really miss him this year.

Something Dunne said on his way out struck a note with me, I haven't got a direct quote but I read it on BBC so somene can find it if they want to.

He said that this cook bloke was just buying names, whoever and from wherever aslong as they sounded like a big name he want to buy them, The same thing I've been saying for a long time about all this city bullshit, sooner or later their "big names" will have a bust up and the team will be in tatters.

I predict come the end of January something dramatic will have happened and city will be fast plunging down the league and with a string of semi-decent results will see them finish somewhere near mid-table.
