Won an xbox on ebay, seller says he prefers payment via Direct Deposit, so being a nice guy I did that. It never turned up in the mail. I have my doubts he ever sent it. Then he says he will refund my money, money is not refunded. What is the best course of action here? This guy has 100% positive feedback, but I feel he's taking me for a ride.

not much you can do to be honest

request a phone number via this method ..

eBay Search: Advanced Search

you need the user name and auction number.. it will then email the info to you

if he is legit, he will have a legit number in their .. if not ... i wud just accept the loss !!

maybe contact the bank, but it is your own fault a bit !!!

other thing to do is contact ebay and say items not received !!!

to me though mate, unless he gives you a contact number and address, i wud accept its a stupid mistake !!

whats the auction number mate??

Too much of this happens on ebay lately, hence the reason i ended up cancelling my account. Contacting ebay by phone costs an absolute fortune so try and contact your complaint to ebay directly via email if it is possible. Hope it works out well for you mate. (y)

Listen, respect personal experiences. I was sensible and had no problems buying items, but selling was a different matter. It may be bullshit to you because you have not experienced such problems, but i had problems. Two seperate buyers bought a PSP off me only for them not to complete the transaction. Ebay sent out a warning over one member yet i was still charged a selling fee despite me not releasing the item. Secondly, i was charged three months worth of selling fees despite me not selling any items during that time, nor me agreeing to any such contract, then i recieved several warning letters from debt collecting agencies. There you go mate, please respect other individuals problems, afterall, the customer is always right. (y)

right .. as i said in previous message, if ebay is done correctly you wont have any problems. and any you do have can be resolved quickly !!

as for the psp you sold. firstly you can limit who buys it from you, thus limiting the chances of people bidding and not paying !

you can limit it to this country only (stops pricks from nigeria) also you can stop people with 0 feedback unless you authorise them, also u can stop people who dont have a registered paypal account (this will stop 99% of problems as if they have paypal, they likely arent scammers)

anyway thats the initial problems held back on ..

as for you paying for the items fees. If a buyer does not pay for an item after 7 days you can file a non paying bidder strike on them. this gives them 7 days to pay otherwise you get the money back for fees.

This is always the case ! fact !

as for the selling fee's. without looking at statements i cant comment directly, but i work on ebay and have over 24,000 feedbacks and over 30,000 completed transactions. Our bills are 99% of the time right, and if they are not, ebay will resolve them correctly.

i think ebay is certainly worth a punt, but as with anything, you have to be careful when dealing individual to individual.

We personally as a store dont have all the protections in place. All our items are buy it now and we have many available. If someone buys and doesnt pay, we will just wait 2 weeks and issue a strike against them. It doesnt personally affect us at all . But as an individual i would certainly recommend blocking certain people.

hope this helps

If you paid by paypal your package is insured. I think ebay also insures stuff up to $250 as well.

same happened to me with an ipod, well kind of it was a fake. 100% rep aswell. payed with pay pal so got the money back

Im with Stevie. Im pretty sure 90% of people will have at least 1 bad experience with ebay, whether the goods arent what they say or just not good etc. Not saying its an awful place because its not but if you're telling me you put 100% faith into ebay, you're a bit of a mug.

I havent bought anything from ebay for years because of the farting around I had over a DVD one time. And there's a lot of dodgy people on there - even got mates who are dodgy selling things on there (mainly over pricing more than anything).

I just find ebay the last port of call if Im looking for things. Im even not a massive fan of the similar one on amazon either.

You sound just like my wife there. She says work would be great if it wasn't for the customers, managers, hours, and pay.

She's right though. Which is why i try not to work in a job that has anything to do with the general public.

Its unreal how thick, in-patient and rude they can be.

I think there should be a rule that if a customer is giving [Poor language removed] you should be able to give it back. Never mind this polite "customer is right" bollocks. If someone is being a nob head, you call him a nob head.
