i mean, how on earth can they call us the bitters? I never see hysteria and bitterness like this from evertonians, only them. Only they hate every single club that is better than them, we don't, we can appreciate better teams, they think it's a rivalry all the time.

Do they honestly believe Messi was anonymous other than the two goals or are they just trying to convince themselves?

Without even have to think very hard there was a beautiful bit of play on the near touch line, the play before his tap in befuddled the greatest defender in the world, two first time perfectly weighted passes that if executed by Salah would be on a continuous loop on sky sports, carrying the ball at the end, doing a perfect shimmy before perfectly setting up Dembele with a perfectly weighted disguised ball, his play that drew the foul for the 3rd goal.

Deluded doesn't even cover it.

I agree mate. Although VVD is a quality player the press have been fawning over him so much this season they have just held their annual bukkake party to help 'kop' him PFA.

We have Aymeric Laporte who is a top quality defender who goes under the radar without bells and whistles of VVD.
Probably a good thing to be honest.

Cryarses mate. Everyone's overrated who beats them. Sergio Ramos is apparently a crap defender who scores a few goals now.

there spending spree comes from players sold and Champions league prize money,

Always the convenient answer but they got those players through money originally. Wherever you trace it back to, United and Liverpool got on the CL money train because they spent more because they had cash as the PL was being formed. Then they used the revenues to continue to stockpile talent so that they can now basically survive on player trading and the odd big signing. Chelsea have recently got to the same level now, they can sell Hazard this summer and finance a rebuild and pass it off as net spend. They had to spend their way to get there though as City have had to do recently. Just because United and Liverpool has their money earlier does not make them any more worthy than City or Chelsea.

Big difference there is United and Chelsea have won stuff

The worlds greatest defender ever was marking Messi...

View attachment 57648

He had half his modified and defence helping him deal with Messi and still got nowhere near him. What happened to the worlds best defender singlehandedly shackling Messi? Van Dijk got shown up for what he is, a decent premier league centreback who is positionally suspect and covers up poor defending with passionate shouting and some nice long diagonals. Please stop mentioning him in a simile breath to any of the top CBs in Europe at the moment. His CL campaign has been a disaster from start to finish full of 50p headers, letting his man go from corners, and being all over the shop positionally.

He is not in the bracket of Godin, Ramos, Varane, Bonucci etc. Not even close.

Besic has done a better job of marking Messi, and he's a championship level midfielder....

Double standards as per. When Suarez was doing that and worse in red they all thought it was hilarious.

Cry more.

Occasionally they still have the capacity to raise the bar of idiocy and befuddle my brain.

Suarez racially abused a small black man and literally bit someone and they were ok with it.

But celebrating a goal in the European CL means he showed NO RESPECTO.

To be a 'top' player you have to constantly be on the ball, all this 'being in the right place at the right time' and 'putting the ball in the net' is secondary to looking like Roy of the Rovers.

A cynic might say that calling Messi overrated might be the sign of supporters who don't understand football..
