Gentlemen, by 6pm next Sunday evening we will see City ahead of Liverpool again. Unfortunately, our bottlers will have been battered to a pulp by a City team looking to get back on track with a bang; and Jose will have done what Jose always does to the cult.

In short: stop pissing yer kecks.

Hoping and not being arsed are two different things tbh.

If Kopites lose to Utd I hope we win but wouldn't care if we dont considering I have zero expectation going into it & and knocks that lot off the top.

If Kopites win Utd your damn right I couldn't care less if we get beat.

If we dont finish in 6th its because of the following:

Wolves 2-2
Bournemouth 2-2
Huddersfield 1-1
Newcastle 1-1
West Ham 1-3

Not because we lost to Man City at the etihad.

Again maybe log off as when you sober up tomorrow you'll realise you've shown yourself up here fella.

We are 6th/7th this season and a defeat next week wont change that, but if it stops the scum going 4 clear at the top you bet I dont care if City get the win and I guarantee I wont be the only Blue.

If we were 3 points off the top 4 I would want us to win at all costs but we aint.

We are realistically not going to move anywhere higher than 6th and lower than 7th.

So on that basis do I care if the only side who can stop our most hated rivals going 4 points clear at the top of the season in a season they remain unbeaten and are having fortune week after week beat us? I honestly dont.

Like I said no Blue is sat there wishing they smash us, but football is a funny old game, LFC fans will be cheering Everton on saturday and City fans will be cheering on Utd.

Nothing it black and white in this game and I think you'll find if you ask the question to every Evertonian on the planet would they be arsed if City beat us providing a. They stopped LFC going 4 clear at the top of the table and b. We didnt slide down the table you would get a very close percentage.

It’s not handing the title though is it mate? To be honest I’m sympathetic to your opinion, but at this stage of the season it is a bit ridiculous. If we were playing City in May and anything but a City win guaranteed that lot the title then I’m sure a lot of blues would be more accepting of a defeat. But come on fella, it’s the middle of December. A win over City for us at this stage of silva’s reign would be fantastic. We’ve gone to a few top 6 grounds and played well but ultimately got nothing. At some point that has to and needs to change if we’re really going to move from 7th best to actually competing for the top 4. What better time and place to do it then next week?

Don't get me wrong if we win next week I'll be made up, however a defeat to them in the circumstances (and with me having zero expectation of getting anything at the etihad) I honestly wouldn't be arsed and can easily say wednesdays draw with Newcastle would have hurt miles more.

I think people underestimate Liverpool, they are unbeaten for a reason and we all know how jammy they are. Yes they probably won't win it but do you honestly feel secure at the thought of them going 4 points clear with the amount of luck they are getting at the moment / Citys injuries / Liverpools actual decent side? As I dont tbh.

Dont get me wrong Everton always comes first for me. If it was the last day of the season and a win at city got us top 4 but handed the RS the title I would pick an Everton win all the time as I care more about Evertons success - however as I've said at this stage next weekend will have zero bearing on where we will finish this season imo, 6th or 7th gets us Europa League football, 6th would be great but if we miss out I blame the dropped points against the crap like Newcastle, Huddersfield, West Ham etc than I do to away games against Man City, Chelsea etc.

Absolute madness some of these posts. I want them beaten to the title on the last day of the season not halfway through it. Can we not just try to enjoy our season without the obsession some have about them on here.

That lot top of the league in early december, and some people are already losing their heads.Being top of the league in December is one thing.Being top in May, is another thing entirely.
 
TBF I am more worried than their usual “title challenge” as they are on 42 points after 16 games and unbeaten so it’s not like they’re falsely up there, and are 6 points ahead of 3rd

Even if it was the last game of the season, and us beating City handed them the title, I would still be torn how I wanted it to go, the only thing that matters to me is winning.
