ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC" part 3

Michael Owen's trippy musings:

Speaking on BT Sport, he said: "Liverpool's strength is that group of players who have been to the trenches and won together.

"That takes years of building. Why is everyone talking about a refresh?

"I think Liverpool have got enough. Looking through their starting XI, there's nobody out there better than their goalkeeper. Their right-back is unbelievable, the left-back too, Virgil van Dijk is probably the best in the world when he is on form. Ibrahima Konate is brilliant. The front five are brilliant."

That's great, thanks Michael.

Strange that Carragher and others are now saying that their unbelievable right back cannot actually defend and they need someone else…..

Right, can we now finally admit that they are really not anything special in terms of massive comebacks?

They did it once about 20 years ago, they did it again about 6 or 7 years ago.

I would imagine that there are a dozen teams in the champions league that would have a similar or better record.

It's time to stop perpetuating the myth
Yeah but … BT sport … sky sport.. top 4 when they’re in it… top 6 when they’re not ….. get with the programme lad 👍

That beaut Jonathan Liew in the Guardian:

"Liverpool acquitted themselves respectably enough here. There would be no comeback, but there would be no collapse either. And when the moment comes to debrief this tie, they will probably reflect that it was won and lost in that pivotal passage at Anfield when they let in five goals. This is a sport of such fine margins, and ultimately those five goals in 46 minutes really are going to cost you at this level."

They got stuffed 6-2 on aggregate. Beaten in both games. 'Fine 'kin margins'.

That's the type of coverage that Franco era Real Madrid used to get. The Establishment Club here gets it too.

RM didnt even need to get out of second gear yesterday and still Alisson had to bail them out numerous times to keep the score flattering. Men vs Boys.

Because 5 goals is a "fine margin" haha

Well I'm going to go out on a limb and say I agree with him. It was a fine margin, a very fine one, one of the finest I've seen for a while. And now I feel fine.

Exactly.

Madrid made sure they were right at Liverpool from the off to snuff any thoughts they had of gaining a foothold. Then the game became a cake walk for them.

Over the 2 legs you saw two teams operating at different levels. Vastly different levels.

"Fine margins".

FFS how does any so called serious journalist come up with tat like that? Liew is a daft middle class get with zero understanding of football...or 'soccer' as he probably calls it.

The only difference was the almost insignificant matter of 5 goals in 46 minutes? So they almost deserved to go through, really by the sounds of this garbage
