ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

"It was too severe for what he's done and that will make you think. At the moment there's shock and anger but when he is a bit more reflective, a sense of reality will set in. He knows the support he will get here, from the management, from the players and the fans, and that will always make him think differently. At this moment he will feel low because of the sanction that's been put on his action.

"Having spoken a lot to him, he is visibly very disappointed. I look in his face and for the first time I can see a genuine guy who is disappointed. It will take time for him to reflect and understand why others have never been punished.

"For us it is a case of supporting him. He is still very much part of our family and very much part of our future. He is very important for us going forward in order to succeed."

When asked what length of ban he was hoping for, Rodgers replied: "I knew it was maybe going to be three games.

Is Suarez's 10-game ban too long?

"It could have been 12 with six suspended. That shows and tells the player it's unacceptable what he did and everyone knows that but you have to put the carrot in front of the player to help him improve his behaviour and help with the rehabilitation and this has only been punishment.

"There's been no thought of rehabilitation unless something dramatic comes up in the report that tells me otherwise. It's a straight 10 games."

Seems like Rodgers whinging that there is 'no thought of rehabilitation' was wide off the mark. His pleading for Suarez to be 'forgiven' hasn't helped him one iota. Maybe, they should hire a psychologist to help poor Luis with his bite phase.

Been in work all evening, only 3 late shifts a year, typical I missed all the drama!
He needs at least a full year ban. You just cannot go around biting people and this is his 3rd go.
Anyone in the working world would be sacked, infact by now committed for what this maniac is doing.
He is a danger to his fellow professionals.
Anyone in the public would be arrested, not just sacked. This is assault. Plain and simple, absolutely no question.

Dunc was jailed for assault. Cantona got a lengthy ban following his karate kick.

RAWK: "Biting is only a form of appreciation. like use of the world negredo in south america to people of colour"

The thing is he's not arsed one bit

He thinks he's done nothing wrong just like the Evra stuff

After his performances in Uruguay's first two games of this World Cup, and after his last biting incident for Liverpool FC, I thought Suarez had turned the corner and was really trying hard to mend his reputation. He is undoubtedly a fantastic footballer, probably in the top 5 in the world to be honest (certainly the best in the premier league). But there is something clearly not right in his head. What on earth was he thinking.? He is a despicable character, and should receive a lengthy ban. Will be interesting to see how FIFA and Liverpool Football club handle this.

It all depends what you mean by cleaning up his image. He was still leaving his foot in and raking down players legs with his studs, he was also still diving around like he had been shot. So if you mean mending his reputation by not biting people, I agree he was doing well.

Brent on Suarez : " I know for however long I am at Liverpool, whenever I leave I will have become a better manager and a better person because of Luis Suarez and for that I thank him so much "
