ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

We'll have to agree to disagree lads :) He was, what, 18 when he left you? It's impossible to predict what could have happened had he stayed at Everton or joined Chelsea etc.

He's a terribly overrated player, always has been. We should have sold him last summer. He's not worth 100,000 per week let alone £300,000!

I agree he isnt worth £300,000 a week - noone is - but in that CL final when Barcelona absolutely smashed you he was the one player that didnt look completely outclassed. He probably now suffers from a combination of huge wedge and being NEA about either his club and country sides now, though.

Another gimmick from that RS that's prompted barbs under it in comments at the postcards hes doing on each game....a la :

How about one that shows Captain "Slipping Geriatric" G? And another that shows the whole LiverFool diving bunch? What sorry jokes!

Charting the decline of a once great club. Open-bus parade for each win take place on Wednesdays at 7pm.

Rooney is not worth £300k a week, in fact no player is. But Rooney is a fantastically gifted footballer, the fact that his desire as left him does not negate that he's a brilliant player.

Sterling is pace and, like said, a low centre of gravity; he's improved massively from when he first broke through but his touch can be awful, truly appalling at times.

He's nowhere near as good as rooney for god given talent, and his career can go either way at the minute. If his hamstrings go he'll find himself in the championship quicker than anything because he doesn't have the skill

Rooney had the same effect when watching him for Everton that I bet Cantona had for you. He was that type of player. We sold out most weeks because of him, pure box office. He could/should have been what Ronaldo is, the talent and potential was all there. As others have said at Utd the 'rawness' of Wayne was drilled out to make way for a more conventional striking role.
Lets face it's not like he's flopped, he's won the lot barring anything at international level and you're right, it's impossible to know what could have happened had he stayed with us. What I'd give for another Wayne to come through the ranks though with the greatly improved players we have now and no desperation to sell.
Oh and with blue tinted specs firmly on he was light years ahead of Sterling.

can't really argue with him not living up to full potential, but he's won the lot and will become united's leading ever goalscorer. we massively undersold him though
just wish he'd left his hair alone, he'd be a bit of a bobby charlton now

and maybe, just maybe....that's where he's gone wrong

anyway this is the sh!te thread, why are we discussing the mancs ?

This bloke looks a bit rough, as if he's been on the ale for days.

The sports psychiatrist Steve Peters is to speak to Roy Hodgson’s England squad at their base at St George’s Park on Friday as the process aimed at recovering confidence after the summer’s disappointments at the World Cup is resumed.

Peters, who has worked extensively with Liverpool over recent years, has accepted an invitation to continue his role in the England set-up, having been part of the backroom staff for the tournament in Brazil. He spoke to a number of players, including the new captain Wayne Rooney, while in Rio de Janeiro, after the squad were granted an open invitation to consult him over the course of the finals.

Peters is due at the national team’s training centre in Burton-upon-Trent on Friday and plans to speak to members of Hodgson’s squad either collectively, or with players on an individual basis, over the next few days. His objective will be to help the group move on from the summer travails in Brazil.

The Football Association do not expect him to travel to Switzerland for Monday’s opening Euro 2016 qualifier in Basel.

He has impeccable credentials by helping the most popular national institute, LFC, win the 'top at Christmas league'. Now who was it that said, 'If you are first you are first. If you are second you are nothing'.

My thoughts exactly Pat! Thought Rooney had signed for that lot!

Pretty sure there is a Rooney/Utd thread somewhere on here.

Come on.... Don't mention about deluded in the same paragraph as what you've wrote here.

Look at his progress in just 2 years. You're coming out with basically assumptions (baggage, injuries, form etc) in the hope that our rivals haven't unearthed a diamond. They have a very very decent player here, just accept it.

Something tells me that this one isn't another Anthony Le Tallec. Not this time.
I've seen a 100 players like this (inc our Wayne ) never become 'best player on the planet' you call it assumptions I call it 'football'.Not bothered wether its Lfc Manure or The Huyton Park! The lads got talent in abundance but football is a cruel game and there's a million and one things that can go tits up for a young kid. Personally I don't think he's got the build or strength to go the distance but I'm only too willing to proved wrong and you can quote this post in 5 years time, god willing.... in fact 2 years if you want.cheers

But if he was an Everton player you wouldn't be so negative about the kid, neither would the others writing him off in here.

It's embarrassing really and yes, it does come across a case of sour grapes because that lot have a fantastic young player. Does it matter that he wears a red shirt? Try and take the blinkers off.

Football fans can be so tribal at the best of times!

Some of the posts in here re: Sterling wouldn't look out of place on my Timeline! Usually it's them lot that come out with "Falcao is no Rickie Lambert" and crap like that! Come on guys.

I'm not saying you're not entitled to your opinion, of course. But you are writing the kid off because of what? It's not like he hasn't impressed.

He does have an extremely punchable face and awful hair though.
