But if he was an Everton player you wouldn't be so negative about the kid, neither would the others writing him off in here.

It's embarrassing really and yes, it does come across a case of sour grapes because that lot have a fantastic young player. Does it matter that he wears a red shirt? Try and take the blinkers off.

Football fans can be so tribal at the best of times!

Some of the posts in here re: Sterling wouldn't look out of place on my Timeline! Usually it's them lot that come out with "Falcao is no Rickie Lambert" and crap like that! Come on guys.

I'm not saying you're not entitled to your opinion, of course. But you are writing the kid off because of what? It's not like he hasn't impressed.

He does have an extremely punchable face and awful hair though.

He's done well in the last 6 months or so imo. He looks much stronger on the ball now and gets into more threatening positions to recieve the ball.

It's a big season for him, by the end of it we could be talking about a lad who's being courted by the World's best, but equally he could fade into the background like Townsend did last season, after being lauded in a similar fashion.

Interesting that the talk of a new deal for him has gone quiet.

I've seen a 100 players like this (inc our Wayne ) never become 'best player on the planet' you call it assumptions I call it 'football'.Not bothered wether its Lfc Manure or The Huyton Park! The lads got talent in abundance but football is a cruel game and there's a million and one things that can go tits up for a young kid. Personally I don't think he's got the build or strength to go the distance but I'm only too willing to proved wrong and you can quote this post in 5 years time, god willing.... in fact 2 years if you want.cheers
Vaulted then.

But then, you've not said he is wank or anything. So its not a good vault.

Can you say something negative about him before I vault it.?

so everyone here thinks he's better than barkley i take it ? or will be better ?

i just don't get where all the sudden massive hype has come from in the last week or so, at the end of last season everyone knew he was a good talent and in good form but i didn't see anyone (bar liverpool fans) going on about him becoming a superstar and being unbelievably gifted.

he then went to the world cup where he had a good 45 minutes in the italy game, he was pretty average for the rest of the time he was on the pitch. going into that tournament barkley was seen as englands major talent and who the future team should be based around (sterling as well to a lesser degree). Somehow 45 minutes against italy and one good performance this season has seen perceptions change and now he's the new saviour of english football.

people obviously rated him before the world cup due to his excellent form at the end of last season but he's only played well in one game this season against spurs and off the back of that performance the hype train has gone into overdrive.

i didn't see any of this 'he'll play for barca/real, be world class etc" prior to spurs game...

it's all a bit weird, infact its more than a bit weird.

He'll do more MOTD highlights stuff, assists, goals etc than Ross, but Barkley's better throughout the game in terms of doing the odd amazing but brief bit of skill to get out of trouble and get us going off on an attack, a lot of what he does is not going to lead to a goal, but will lead to an attack where without him would lead to us losing the ball and defending.

@RAWK Meltdown take some time off RAWK and swerve calling us bitter.

You've got a complex mate. I was merely suggesting that maybe we actually give Sterling a few years before writing him off, eh?

I seem to remember similiar posts on opposing forums about Cristiano Ronaldo when we signed him. "He's gonna be crap", "He's all style, no substance", "He's not going to ever become a world class player" etc.

I am just saving you the embarrassment in the long run ;)

Oh and Sterling won't be at Liverpool in 2/3 years anyway - he'll actually want to win trophies.

Look... I can't... Sterling is better than Barkley at the moment. By a decent margin too. If Everton were given the option of taking one Liverpool player tomorrow, there is not a man on this forum who wouldn't have Sterling and it's okay to admit it, this isn't RAWK. I am swerving this thread until it gets back on track.
