Tear of the thigh muscle: that's at least a month....and if that lot have any sense they'll leave it longer than that due to his history of thigh injuries.

He wont face Everton in the Derby.

Cheers Woy, nice warm down routine!

Was discussing Sterling last night with a few rs and admitted he was a good player but they were calling me bitter cos I wouldn't admit he was good as Rooney when he was with us. Are they in the same league?

Rooney at 17 was better than Sterling currently is at 19, think that answers your question mate, Sterlings good and could potentially get a lot better, Rooney went to a International tournament and looked truly special at 18.

European championships at 18, youngest ever goalscorer in the tournaments history, 4 goals in 4 games - named in the team of the tournament, England fell apart when he went off in the Portugal game in the Quarters else they would have had a great chance of winning the whole thing.

Sterling played 3 games in the world cup, did nothing special, went home at the age of 19.

Rooney broke the prems youngest ever goalscorer record, he also broke the European championships youngest ever goalscorer record as well

Sterling isn't in the same class at the same age as Rooney was, he may go on to be as good as rooney was in their mid 20's when you compare them then, but at this age Rooney was the most talented and exciting youngster England have produced in my lifetime, Sterling doesn't have the x factor that Rooney did at the same age.

Rooney became the most important player for England on the back of playing for a Everton back then with very few above average players, Sterling has benefited from playing with the England captain, and two 20+ goal scorers, one of whom was probably the 3rd best player in the world in Suarez, the two don't compare, stick Sterling in that Everton squad and he would have made no were near the impression the young Rooney did

Hope Rodgers rushes him back for the Derby and we all get the joy of watching him break down similar to Lukaku at Anfield

No comparison whatsoever. Rooney was infinitely better and even now probably still is as he has the ability to drag that Utd side to league titles. Sterling looks like he's going to be a quality little player but he's not on the same planet as Wayne was when he was the same age.

I wouldn't worry mate, all their players are "world class" according to them!

You don't say mate, you can't just have a good player for them, they have to be World Class and a true specialist in what they do. Before Balotelli signed my mate was trying to convince me how Lovren was world class on the basis of nothing but him signing for Liverpool. He failed miserably.

this is true, at a young age, Rooney could grab a game by the scruff of its neck and turn it around. Sterling is a dangerous player but is effectively standing on the shoulders of giants. Stick him in a crap team and he'll be crap.

Agreed mate. Rooney at that age was simply as good as anyone out there and looked well on the path to being a truly World Class player. As mentioned above, he looked unplayable in the Euros until he got injured.
