Give them their dues, they never lack for confidence/arrogance,that spreads to the media who support the "myths",which in turn permeates through to the opposition/officials IMHO,we tend to play our boys down to a large degree, christ knows what they would have made of the likes of Coleman if he had a season like last year for them!

They with the help of their fans and the 80% of the media are the very definition of a Self-defeating prophecy... (see crystanbul)

Good point mate. The way the RS dominated media built up Suarez last season, good as he was, was designed to put the frighteners up the opposition, supporters, managers and players. By and large it worked and he ran riot. They are doing the same with Sterling. The great build up to being 'world class' 'tore up the world cup', 'played Norway off the park', 'destroyed Spurs', 'will be a handful for all teams this season' etc.etc.etc.. As Uruguay showed, and Italy in the second half, double up on him and show him the outside and he becomes not so effective.

That is not to say he can't play, but the whole RS dominated media circus would have us believe that he is Messi, Gorgie Best, Pele, Cruyff, Maradona all rolled into one perfect footballer that is already world class. The 'hard to stop' overplaying of his ability will work with some managers, players and supporters, others will be able to work out how to play against him. Let's see by Christmas how he is doing.

“There’s an expression, ‘society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in’, and I think that applies with the Academy".......so Rodgers doesn't have the monopoly on spouting pretentious garbage then. Such hypocrisy from a club that has sold most of the products of their "Academy"- as weve said on here recently too. “My remit for the last 10 years of working has been to try and produce Champions League quality players.." ......er...he forgot to add "and IF I do, we then sell them off to Championship clubs here".
