Remember last season when some of our fans were having a go at the 'Catalan Clown' and pointing to Sunderland's managerial appointment as an example of great ambition?

[Poor language removed] Advocaat had a better pedigree that the spectacle wearing German weirdo.

He's going to fail. Just put a monkey on them getting relegated.
Advocaatis a decent manager though, the problems at Sunderland couldnt be fixed by any manager right now.

He did win a few things! Then again it was with money they didn't have artificially inflating their squad above everyone else's unfairly. Fortunately they were punished for it....oh wait hang on they just got another load of money instead from an undervalued buy out, Leary they've learnt their lesson and are being prudent with it....

Indeed he picked up a coupe of domestic cups plus the Istanbul fluke......in which Rafael perfected the art of taki the game to pennos and taking his chance :)

But there wax not the return to glory days in the sense that they demand.

Back at the summit of English football, looking down on the rest of us ;)

People really need to get a grip of this situation ...
Can't recall a deep sense of foreboding on this scale when the FSW joined their ranks - a man who had won two La Liga's and the UEFA cup with Valencia.

Excellent point.

And I think there is a reason for this.

The "deep sense of foreboding" you allude to is most keenly felt by the FM and FIFA heads among our ranks.

Klopp is the poster boy for keyboard managers. The Guru of the "press 'em high" brigade.

There was little of this around in Rafael's day so his tactics hadn't been studied and put into practice in bedrooms the length and breadth of the country.

He came as a mere football manager......not a statistician's wet dream.

Hence the more phlegmatic approach by those of us who have seen Uncle Woy, King Kenny and Brent lauded as the new Messiah in recent years :)

What say you, @chicoazul ;)

Surprises me is that per reports only a 3 year contract!!!

I would say that is his doing.

They are so desperate to sign a big name he coukd dictate his own terms.

And they should worry about this.

A couple of years of steadying the ship and showing even slight improvement will put him in prime contention for a job at Madrid or Barcelona or Munich......even City or Chelsea.....and he will want the freedom to move when it suits him.

Just like a certain Mr. Moyes, late of this parish.

Whatever you do, just play it safe and don't stuff it up and your reputation will precede you to the next step up.

In all honesty I don't think anyne did that, and if so I would love to see them vaulted
