ECHO Comment: "Fears of Witch-hunt Against Liverpool FC"

Absolutely. Wasn't there a sportsman who just killed himself in prison after he was convicted murdering some bloke in another shooting?

He wasn't white though (Hispanic I believe) so maybe that doesn't count.

I'm not shocked by the previous comment on here that only compared whites there with whites in the UK. America thinks along race lines. It's history of segregation is largely the reason for this, from segregated schools to segregated graveyards. Blacks are a separate entity. Likewise Natives (those that were left were put in reservations, cages, where they remain), and all the other races. Redlining, racial steering, black housing projects, ghettos. Then there is "white flight" (this occurs when white folk leave neighbourhoods that have had 'too many blacks' come in and look for a nice white area.).

What's happened though is blacks there are different to here. My brother is incredibly racist towards blacks in America not just because he's in a much more racist environment (he lives in Texas), but also many blacks there harbour grievances due to how they were treated there. While they are justified in doing so it can make it harder to get along. When my brother comes back to the UK he has no issue at all with blacks here. There isn't the same black vs white conflict.
Curious question. Are you against the idea of application forms or surveys asking if the person is white, hispanic, or black? As you know, everyone does this.

Why are you bringing up the quality of the sports here? I follow all American Sports plus the Premier League, and I think they are all equally amazing in their own ways. My original post was actually a question, which no one actually answered as of yet. If we were to discard NBA, NFL, etc and focus on other Europeans. I've been following Bundesliga and La Liga, for some time now, yet I've hardly heard about athletes doing stuff like what the English footballers do. In fact, I've hardly seen MLS players getting involved in stuff like this. Footballers are never a fair representation of the society but it does raise questions, as to why England produces so many degenerates in the sport. I honestly do not know the answer, maybe it's the mentality? Fame? Culture? Education? I don't know. I still haven't got an answer lol.
Possibly it is that similar stuff happens in other European leagues but it is more widely reported in England because of the spotlight on the Premier League. No offence but I would struggle to name a player in the MLS and I have got the square root of FA interest in what goes on there.

The Red Echo at it again. This time it's Tributes to Cyrille Regis. There are two stories running at the moment, "Why all Everton fans will pay tribute to Cyrille Regis..." and "Why Cyrille Regis will always be remembered at Anfield.."

Here is a synopsis of the Everton story:-

Everton were bad racists

Here is a synopsis of the Liverpool story:-

Cyrille Regis scored at Anfield once.

Here is a quote from the Everton story, recounting a tale from Clyde Best (not sure what he's got to do with Cyrille Regis) "It was at Goodison Park and he wrote: “Eventually the repetitive drone of monkey chants got me angry. It got so bad and I said: ‘I’m tired of this c**p.’ So I picked the ball up from halfway and I’m on a solo run."

Here is the only mention of racism in the Liverpool story "Regis was a trailblazer for black footballers during less enlightened times, having shot to prominence..."

I'm not trying to sweep under the carpet the problems of racism during that era but I promise you it was not just Everton's problem in this city.

If I were cynical I'd say it was a big coincidence that this come out at the time that Holgates makes accusations.

The club should ban that rag, they go out of their way to have a dig at us.

This quote in the story made me cringe

“I was 12-years-old at the time, a baby in the hierarchy of Gwladys Street terrace culture, and the significance of Benjamin's appearance was beyond me – until that terrace thug leaned over and burned my programme as I read it”

Their own terrace thug ticket robbers know all about scaring kids.
